Do we really need a DT?

I emailed Danny Morrison last March, and told him to let Hurney know to draft Jurrell Casey at the top of the 3rd round. Too bad he didn't listen. Casey is the next Casey Hampton.. dude is short, squatty, and extremely powerful. He can play the 0 tech in the 34 too.. dude has over 50 tackles this season.

Yes we do.

We don't need two and we don't need a super dominant DT there but we do need one of those DT spots upgraded with a big body who can be disruptive. One upgrade addition will elevate the play of the one next to him and we can work out something more than servicable for the 2nd DT spot out of what we already have on the roster.

I'd be very surprised to see us draft a DT and thus obtaining another project. No ready for the field guys are out there for round 1, so any others will be a project. We have three of those now, so I see us addressing other positions on D in the draft.

As far as FA pickups? I don't know where the staff stands on that, but reading into Rivera's comments makes me think we might be sitting pat and leaning on Ron Edwards to step into the role we signed him for. He will be in year 2 of a 3 year deal. I'm sure his recovery status will be the ultimate factor on whether we look to the FA market.

Don't really see the need for DT.

I really like the young guys with Edwards coming back. McClain, Fua, Shirley, Kearse, Neblett and Edwards is a good group IMO. I wouldn't pass on a top draft guy if one slips, but I don't consider it a need.

CB, WLB and OT are my big three.

There are things we need more...without a doubt. I wouldn't even put DT in my top four or so. I'm just not sold on who we have - though I suppose to be fair we should see how they do with a proper LB corps behind them.

Personally I'd cut Fua and keep one of the guys we signed down the stretch. I know that won't happen, but since he's been gone our run D has played significantly better.

I like the guys we have right now.

Probably not likely to see Fua gone until after next season at the earliest. If for no other reason than they won't want to admit the pick was bad without enough data to back it up.

Maybe they'll prove me wrong though.
