Somewhat agree. I would cringe if we were in a playoff hunt, and SS went down for 6 weeks though.

Can you imagine trotting, Pilares, Lafell, and Gettis/Naanee out there on Sunday against the Saints?

Without the extra attention that Smitty attracts, I'm not sure how good the other 3 would be. I know this can be said for most every team in the NFL when talking about their no. 1 going down. but for us it would be a back breaker.

In the past, I might agree with you. However, I think we would be fine with Gettis, Lafell and Naanee as our receivers. Unlike in previous years, we have 2 upper level tight ends and we are throwing to the running backs out of the backfield more than ever.

We certainly are a better team with Smith, but it wouldn't crush our offense without him like it used to.

If somehow we managed to grab Colston or Bowe, I'd be perfectly content with that.. however, we can't afford to take up a lot of cap space at that position with all the weapons we have at the moment..

if we are going to pay Colston or Bowe, wouldn't you rather have had a Jonathan Joseph?

a Pierre Garcon would be a nice deep threat but at what cost? he isn't a #1, but may want a good chunk of change as well.. after all, he's put up really solid #'s consistently.. even after all the talk when he and Manning weren't on the same page.. especially after Manning was out of the picture..

would the options be nice to add? sure.. but at what cost? that cost means a deduction at another key position..

I would like Robert Meachem added to the team. He would be a great deep threat and seems like a guy who is only gonna get better. I remember his rookie year when he wasnt even dressing yet when they came to play us here he was talking to Steve Smith during warm ups getting coaching on how to be a great receiver, thought that was pretty cool.

9ers just released Braylon Edwards...why not go after him? he knows Chud's offense already and was productive under him

LA is just a guy. There is nothing special about any aspect of his game.

If he wants to stay for close to vet minimum, fine. Otherwise, thanks LA, but we are going in a different direction.

That's right, I'd rather hand over a roster spot to a guy that hasn't proven in games yet that he sucks. Naanee has proven that. Sure he made some decent catches in the later part of the season, but if that's all it took we would have kept Jarrett. Jarrett was better than Naanee. So yea, ew to Naanee. His play is gross and makes me ill.

Comparing him to Dwayne Jarrett is a complete joke... Jarrett put up what, 10 receptions and 120 yards in 3 years?

Naanee actually knows how to play the game and has been solid for our team despite most of you making rash judgments on a guy you can't exactly watch on your TV screen... for a 4th receiver next year, you'll have a tough time finding one better...

hence, he will be our 4th receiver.. he's averaged a little over 10 yards/reception and has shown he can get open.. the use of wishful thinking and prejudice isn't a great argument on why Pilares and AE should start over him...

This actually would be a pretty good signing if we could get him for at or around vet min. He has potential but has a severe case of the dropsies.
