DeAngelo Williams 217 yards from a 1,000

We should aim for 2,400 yards rushing as a group...261 yards rushing to get there. That is a little bit more realistic. We just had 270 against the bucs.

Not really a question directed at you. I am kinda curious and thinking out loud. How many teams have passed for 4000 yards and rushed for 2000 in a year?

Can he get it next week against the Saints?

By the way, let me list the rushing stats for Cam, D-Will, and J-Stew.....

Cam: 674 yards, 5.6 average

DeAngelo: 783 yards, 5.3 average

Jonathan: 682 yards, 5.1 average

Combined, this tri-force has 2139 rushing yards with an average of 5.3 yards per carry. Surely our best rushing group the Panthers organization has ever seen, and eventually will be the best ever in league history.

2009 stats: 525 carries, 2498 yards, 18 TDs 4.8 YPC 156.1 YPG

2011 stats: 421 carries 2244 yards 25 TD's 5.3 YPC 149.6 YPG

Both have been absolutely amazing years, but the 2009 year was done strictly with our RBs. Teams expected run and didn't have to worry about spying a QB. I still think 2009 was more impressive.

I disagree completely. In 2009 there wasn't 4000 yards of passing offense to compliment the rush.

If 2009 is more impressive because everyone knew we were running the ball and we still had good success despite that, then I can see your logic. I don't agree with it but I can see where you are headed. I prefer the wide open offense we have now. Chud runs a pro-version of the spread offense which is really the best of both worlds. The offense is built around Newton who is so versatile and athletic which allows him to make plays In 2009 we were extremely boring and predictable. I always thought we were a persistent running team not necessarily a consistent running team. And we were not good in third down conversions. If the last few games are any indication of our potential, we will be talking about the 2012 offense as the watershed season where we had a dominanting offense. One that move the ball in the fourth quarter to either score or run out the clock. Run and pass so well that defenses have a hard time stopping us.

So I am not about looking back but looking forward to what we are going to be, seeing 2011 as the harbinger of the future and the team that is going to be competitive in the division, conference, and league consistently. At least that is what I hope for next year with this year almost in the books.

Yeah, I think we'll see DeAngelo and Stewart get a lot more of the rushes next season than Cam. Chud shunned the running backs during the first half of the season, and Cam did too much of the running. He should never be the leading rusher in ANY GAME when you have two 1,000 yard backs on the team, and they're only getting around 12 total carries per game. It wasn't until the Redskins game that Williams and Stewart were used appropriately, and then Chud still abandoned it too early in some of those losses after the Bye.

If he stays healthy next season, he should reach 1,000 unless they decide to give Stewart a lot more of the carries, which wouldn't be inconceivable.
