I Have a Question

I just see the possibilities of having a historical offense, will draw the top defensive talent to Carolina. We see today that Smitty and Olsen, two of our top receiving threats, didn't have a lot of stats. Still, we dominated. The prospect of adding Kalil is very enticing to me. Again, with top defensive talent being drawn to Carolina, we could build our defense through that arena, and at the same time draft defensive prospects in rounds 2-7 where needed.

Ok the 3 first rounders talk is to trade up for the #1 pick for Andrew Luck. That's it. The thought of giving up 3 first rounders for an OL is well...

When I say three, I'm really talking two. (We trade our first this year, next year, and the year after.)

We move up to the second pick in 2012. So we don't lose a pick in 2012, only in 2013 and 2014.

Yes, but you are still trading 3 picks for 1 pick. If you have a super-cool marble I like and I give you 3 baseball cards for it, I didn't all of a sudden only give you 2 baseball cards because you gave me a marble.

Look at it this way. What would you say if Hurney traded our first pick this year (10-15th overall) for the Colts/Ram 2nd overall pick. Who would win that trade?

If you even traded next years first to move up and draft Kalil it would be dumb. I know you guys like the last name Kalil, but there are 3 OTs that are pretty close talent wise at the top of this year's draft. To trade three first round picks to move up to the second position and get an OT when there are 2 others that are very good would be historically idiotic.

If you reviewed Hurney's past succuss rate of trading draft picks to move up in the draft, would you have really asked this question?

Think before you post people. If not for yourself, but for the benefit of all the other members of the Huddle.
