WR to consider for next year

This is another reason why I lol at the Falcons giving up all those draft picks for Julio Jones. If they were really in win now mode they could have used those 2012 picks to upgrade other areas of their team (like OL) and then sign a guy like Wayne who would love to play for a shot at a ring.

I think we are going to be pretty set at WR next year. With our TEs and RBs catching as many as they do, exactly how many catches are there for the 3rd or 4th WR. At this point with Smith, LaFell, and Gettis we should be set for the first 2 WR positions. Sure we could sign a high priced free agent but exactly how many times have we done that in the last 5 years? Why would we start now??

It wouldn't be a bad signing, as would any of the other veteran FA WRs set to hit the market this year. Some of the lesser minded people here are so caught up in Blackmon's name and the thought of Cam having a WR to break records with for the next ten years, they have forgotten about improving the team. Wayne-if the coaching staff sees receiver as a need at all-which is unlikely at this point-would be a nice option if he got away from Indy at all.

Resigning Jeremy Shockey wouldn't keep us from signing a WR, btw.

True... but gotta have priorities too...

Good article... don't know how accurate it is... who on that list would you want.

Obvious choices aren't gonna happen most likely... as they'll stay on their current teams (Welker, DeSean, Colston) and/or be too expensive.

I'd like to see us sign a solid #2 if we do sign one... say Pierre Garcon or Eddie Royal...

There are so many quality names on that list, it's hard not to envision a few decent choices hitting the market.

Again, I'm not of the believe the coaching staff views a WR as a huge point of need at this point in time- I'm just shooting down some people's notion that the coaching staff is sitting in their office greedily rubbing their hands together and cooking up dastardy schemes to draft Justin Blackmon-when it just isn't likely, regardless of how "excited" some people may be about him

If there IS a desire to get a WR, I'm saying it looks like the options in FA will be there.
