Todd McShay's 1st NFL Mock Draft

I want Kalil as well, but I think finding a trading partner will be next to impossible unless we make an incredible offer.

I know I fall outside the mainstream of opinion with this, but I would trade this year's 1st round pick, this year's 2nd round pick, and next year's 1st round pick to get Kalil.

I truly think the kid is going to be a lock-down perennial All-Pro at the position. And, outside of the starting QB, you don't get more value out of a position than having that protecting your starting QB's blind side. More than any additional offensive "weapon", that is the thing (again IMO) that would propel our offense to truly ELITE status.

After doing this, then use your remaining picks and every free agent move possible to improve the defense.

I have always been 100% all-in to the philosophy that the way you have success in the NFL is to be rock-solid on the OL and DL. There is absolutely nothing we can do in the 1st round to propel our DL to that kind of status this year. Picking Kalil would do that and more to our OL.

Seeing the offense click the last few weeks, plus the addition of David Gettis and Gary Barnidge...drafting a WR is Detroit Lions stoopid.

Matt Kalil or Def BPA whichever is available.

With the defensive players that McShay has going before us, what Defensive Player would you take?

I see what you're saying so trading out of the spot might be best, I just think WR isn't even close to a need. Truth is crazy poo happens draft day and someone might drop or Hurney mindfugs us and drafts a RB.

Trading back would make a lot of sense if the board goes as McShay predicts. But, you need to find a trading partner....which is not always an easy task.

McShay's board is an absolute disaster for the Panthers. The impact players in positions of major need for us are all gone.

Hope it does not actually play out this way.

people have too much faith in what they think Gettis will be.

Carolina needs to go ahead and start looking for Cam's #1 WR that he will spend the bulk of his career with. That ain't Smitty.

We really need to increase the talent on the D side. I don't know if the answer is getting healthy again or not.

The team has drafted Offense with its first pick for the last two drafts (Brown in rnd 2 2009).

The draft is deep in corners (so I have read). So that puts CB into the second round perhaps.

actually, to add to this, brown is the HIGHEST pick spent on any defensive player since. We drafted solid offense until Rnd 4 in 2010 and picked up McClain in rnd 3.

David Gettis = Taller Marvin Harrison.

eh, Gettis ran the deep route well basically b/c of his speed and the fact no one respected him or the QB's ability to throw it. Gettis doesn't look to have complete stud WR potential like a Harrison.

True but what is the defensive rank this year? Unlike what some people think you don't make your defense better by making your offense better.

Give an offseason to Lafell, Gettis, Pilares, Newton with Chud. Let the draft give us majority defense.
