Since you're not putting up all their numbers (like the loser you are) I will

Now who has the better numbers over their college carear.

I'm not sure what you are looking at but Blackmon has more catches, more yards receiving, more rushing yards, and just 3 less touchdowns, while backing up Dez Bryant his freshman year.

Please come with a vaild argument you have failed mostly in this thread.

1. D jarret and Blackmon have about the same number coming out of college.

2. Then you tried to only show 2 years worth of stats to help you already weak argument. Then you came up with a dumb excuse to why you did it.

3. You haven't shown 1 thing to match your claim that Blackmon elite.

4. You also said Micheal Crabtree was elite. Dude hasn't had 1 1,000 yard season in 3 years he's been in the league.

please, stop putting words in my mouth. I never even brought up crabtrees name. I'm going to go ahead and end this debate here because it's clear you hardly have a grasp of the English language, let alone intricacies of football

I believe some people think Blackmon will fail just because he's not seen as a Calvin Johnson mold of wide receiver. I've watched a ton of Ok State games over the past two years and Justin Blackmon is almost always the most talented player on the field, Ok State or opponent. The guy runs some of the most crisp routes I've ever seen in college as well as having fantastic jumping ability and great hands. People may crucify me for saying this, but Justin Blackmon reminds me very much so of Jerry Rice. Rice was never the fastest or tallest guy on the field, but he worked at his craft and made himself better. He was a great possession receiver and didn't mind going over the middle in a day when a DB could rip your head off and shoot some hoops with it. In today's game Blackmon can use his ability to open of the deep ball for Smith, while still being a huge threat for yac.

Should we take him if he falls to us? Only if Morris Claiborne, Matt Kalil, and a trade down scenario isn't available. We've spent a lot of trade value on WR's over the past two seasons, so it really depends on how much the GM and Rivera trust Gettis, LaFell, Edwards, and Pilares to develop. I personally think we need to add a 1st round talent to our defense, my favorite being Claiborne.

No I think Blackmon can be a really good WR in the NFL.

My problem is like I've said in this Thread a few times.

Does his talent outweight our dire needs?

What this means.

1.Is Blackmon a once in a decade talent to good to pass up?

2.Or is he just another really good wr that you can get the same kind of talent later in the draft?

Example

In my opinion there are a few ways to draft best player available.

1.The player is so good that no matter the need you can't pass him up.

We don't have a need at WR but if a Clavin Johnson, AJ green, Randy Moss, or Larry Fitz type (instant super stars) drop in our draft range. Then the talent is to much to pass by.

Be honest is Blackmon really this type of WR?

2. The need for another position out weights the BPA.

We have needs on defense is a really good wr going to help those needs or would it be better to go with the best defensive player available?

Is Blackmon blowing D Jarret out # wise?

Let also remeber Jarret played with a allstar team as well.

He had another good wr on the other side a good TE and RB that all got their touches.

All I said was their # were close.

Going by the full playbook of how to act when losing a debate I see.

got em

No WR. Dontari Poe is worthy of consideration. Nasty disposition and willing and capable of occupying two OLs. McShay should undergo waterboarding from Ditka on NFL Countdown because he is McShay but Poe is a beast. If we can't get a worthy CB, OL or playmaking safety , this dude might be worth picking.

Poe's not worth a top 10 pick. I'd snag him top 10 in the 2nd round, but there's really only one "once in a decade" potential talent in the whole draft and that's Luck. Kalil is close, but we have next to no shot at him. I'd be VERY happy if Claiborne or Blackmon dropped to us and satisfied with Reiff or Martin. We could also have a late riser creep into the top 10 based on bowl games and combine, but I'm not seeing ANY DTs worth top half of the 1st.

It's a shame this year's class strengths don't line up with our needs but it's better to address near future needs (like possibly WR and OT) before they become immediate needs when that's where the strength is rather than reach for immediate needs when the value isn't there. The only defensive position we should really be talking with top 10 pick from THIS draft class is CB, but there's such depth we could probably get better value from WR or OT in the top 10 and a CB in the 2nd.

IF we could get Claiborne in the 1st and then get a OLB (Brown, Reddick, maybe Burfict can switch) or Safety (Barron, Martin, McDonald) or DT (Thompson, Poe, or maybe Ta'amu) that would be the ideal value + need factor. If we can't get Claiborne in the 1st, I'd rather not reach for a OLB or DT, or take a CB I don't think is going to make a good pro (Kirkpatrick) or a CB that might have the talent but have too many personal problems (Jenkins).

The Panthers should focus on building the nastiest Defense in the whole NFL. Remember the teams we have to play twice / year: New Orleans, Atlanta. These are teams that can score lots of points. Even if we were to trade some of our offensive weapons (J. Stew, DeAngelo), we would still have enough weapons to be a competitive offense.

But, remember, Rivera is a defensive coach and he prides himself at going after the other teams QBs.

We MUST draft Defense and Special teams talent in the first 4 rounds and if possible, trade down to get more guys on Defense/Special Team. This team needs to be lay the foundation of the nastiest defense in the league.
