3-1 since playing mostly teams missing key starters

Colts-Obviously Peyton Manning

Bucs-Josh Freeman although it's arguable they're just as bad with him as they are without him. Also no McCoy and a banged up defensive line in general

Texans-No Matt Schaub, no Andre Johnson, no Mario Williams

The Panthers have been missing key starters since, like, the whole season began (Beason, Davis). Also having both Gettis and Edwards available would've helped.

It's pretty much impossible to expect all 22 starters to still be healthy and running by week 15. It's why depth is so important. However there are certain positions in which losing your starter is pretty much insurmountable. Without Schaub the Texans are not going to make it far in the playoffs (they'll be fodder for Baltimore, New England, or Pittsburgh). Their best weapon, arguably the best WR in the game has been banged up all year.

Losing Beason was like losing the QB of the defense. If we had been healthier early in the season this team would've had a better chance to close out games. It wouldn't have been so easy for the Saints to muster that winning drive (they had total control of the defense and the clock).

totally agreed with that thought that seemed like it should have it's own paragraph.

we are a team missing key starters so i won't qualify wins that we have against teams with the same issue. they won't be doing that either.

a win is a win is a win.

the thing is, it's seasons like these that can build depth. Look at all the otherwise scrubs that got experience
this is just one of the silver linings that come from a year like this.

this is how you get quality depth and how deep teams become deep.

The Golden Calf of Bristol played Oakland (4-3) when they were without Jason Campbell. Palmer throws 3 ints.

The Golden Calf of Bristol beat the Dolphins (0-6) before they fired their Head coach. They had lost 6 games in a row and their starting quarterback. The Dolphins have since won 5 games.

Kansas City 4-4, in-game injury to Cassel begins the debut of Tyler Palko, KC is already without Last Season's Leading rusher. KC has since fired their Head Coach.

New York Jets 5-4 - Sanchez plays like Sanchez. They were without their Starting Center.

San Diego 4-6 Rivers is in process of having worst season ever, had more ints than td's. Rumors already swirlling about firing Norv Turner.

Minn 2-9 - Has new coach and new quarterback, and injured AP.

Chicago 7-5 - Lost QB and leading RB, the infamous Hanie is starting, lost game because rb didn't go out of bounds.

Please and people talk about The Golden Calf of Bristol is so great. I spit on The Golden Calf of Bristol!

Matt Shaub and co's injuries weren't hurting the Texans until last week

To add on to that, the talking heads in tv compared to Yates to the Brady situation and said he could lead them deep.....but now that the panthers won its only because Yates is a rookie 3rd string Qb. Wasn't the story when they beat the bengals and the falcons.......

More often than not, if you lose your starting qb, then your season is doomed. There are a few exceptions to this, such as the patriots with Cassell, or perhaps even the Texans this year. But more often then not, its over.

The other positions can be overcome if you have good depth and there is not a flood of injuries.

FTR, when it comes to every team except like the Eagles, QB is by far the worst position to lose a starter to IR.

Even the Patriots losing Brady lost deep passing efficiency, and the only reason the Patriots won more than they lost was because they had all the pieces everywhere else. Plus that's been like their worst season in the past 6 years (the only one with no playoffs)

BTW, I noticed the announcers mentioned DeMeco Ryans as having recovered from a torn Achilles he suffered 6 games into last season...definitely created some additional optimism for Beason's recovery considering Ryans has started all 14 games this year. His production is down a little, but he's on a great Defensive unit.

We have 15 guys on IR. Other teams have guys out doesn't matter. A win is all the matters in this league

Packers won the Super bowl last year with reserves and a good % of their starters out.

The only thing that irritates me is I really feel if we the starting DTs we have now, who knows how that would have changed things in the won/lose column.

I'm not big on playing rookies, to well, play rookies. In my mind, the coaches play the best players on the roster, not just the 'rookie' players on the roster.
