Tonight...

Tonight, I got to sit by the bed of one of the downright sweetest lady's bed as she lays deathly ill saying her goodbyes and biding her time until the final moment. It was surreal. To see how this wonderful 94 year old woman has withered like a flower over the last 2 weeks has been so saddening. She is my fiance's great-grandmother and the two of them are incredibly close. Closer than any I've ever seen. Best friends and family, always. This is incredibly hard on my gal, seeing her slowly fade away. It started with kidney failure 2 weeks ago. Since then, she has known her fate and has been saying her goodbyes. She's given everyone their Christmas presents. She loves getting kisses right now. The doctor says she has maybe 2-3 more days to live. All positive thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Here's to you, Memere.

They are a completely different generation! Alot tougher and nicer than current generations. My grandmother is 88 and still push mows her 1.5 acre lot, refuses to let us boys do it. As hard as it is to say good-bye to the matriarch, she has had a full life! God Bless!

Yes she has had a full life. Letting go is hard, nonetheless.

Sorry to hear.

Glad she got to live a long, happy, fulfilled life.

Be glad you only had to see her deteriorate for such a short time and that she was given the opportunity to be a part of your lives for this long.

Ive learned recently that no matter how long you know its coming, its still hard when the moment actually arrives.

    • I admit, i drafted Cam Skattebo strictly on the name
    • It's a good way to end up on the wrong side of one.
    • Did not participate:  CB Jaycee Horn (hip), LG Damien Lewis (illness/ankle), OLB Cam Gill (illness), RT Taylor Moton (knee), ILB Josey Jewell (head/neck/quad), OLB Jadeveon Clowney (elbow/knee), CB Chau Smith-Wade (illness/chest) Limited participation:  OLB Amare Barno (knee), RB Chuba Hubbard (knee), WR Xavier Legette (hip/wrist), WR Adam Thielen (hamstring), TE Tommy Tremble (shoulder/back), DE A’Shawn Robinson (knee), OLB DJ Wonnum (shoulder/knee)   Full participation: QB Bryce Young (hamstring), C Cade Mays (illness) OT Ikem Ekwonu (shoulder/illness)   details below The Carolina Panthers are banged up heading into the final two games of the season. The team practiced Thursday without five starters, including cornerback Jaycee Horn (hip). Horn, right tackle Taylor Moton (knee), outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (elbow/knee), and inside linebacker Josey Jewell (head/neck/quad) were seen on the practice field, but didn’t take part in team drills. Left guard Damien Lewis (illness/ankle) and nickel corner Chau Smith-Wade (illness/chest) were also held out of the workout. If Horn were to miss the Week 17 battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Panthers would probably need to rely on Maiden, North Carolina, native Caleb Farley, among others, to make up for the loss. Horn’s status for the game is in question after sitting out the second workout of the week. Moton and Lewis, if they were to miss the game against Tampa Bay on Sunday, would likely be replaced by Brady Christensen and Chandler Zavala, respectively. Smith-Wade, if sidelined for the game, would probably be replaced by veteran Dane Jackson. The Panthers are particularly light on inside and outside linebacker depth, so Clowney and Jewell will be worth monitoring on Friday. The team signed linebacker Chandler Wooten on Tuesday to serve as insurance for Jewell, while second-year outside linebacker DJ Johnson would likely get the call to replace Clowney if needed.
