Breaking Bad Season 5 (Here)

To those of you that think is show is being boring - what do you think this show is really about? I get the sense (not just from this thread but from other discussions) that some people think this show is about a spineless man turning into an alpha badass, and Skylar is the bitch trying to prevent that. If you think that you are missing out on a tremendous amount of depth in the story.

the whole episode was about skyler being a bitch. you coulda skipped the whole thing and not missed anything.

the only point to the episode was to show just how much walt has changed, and how that affects their relationship. skyler can no longer bully him like she once could.

but i knew that anyway.

walt is probably gonna get jesse killed by accident imo. everything bad that has happened to him on the show has been a direct result of walt and his "measured" responses. getting the poo stomped out of him by hank, jane dying, combo getting killed, him killing gale...the kid being poisoned...i don't see jesse as some sort of foil to walt, but more or less a tragic figure that doesn't realize his bad luck is really the machinations of walt. and i don't think he'll ever realize that either. just too easy.

Everything bad that has happened to anyone on the show is a result of Walt.

I don't think Skylar has ever been a bitch on this show and it amazes me that so many think so. She has reacted to her husband of 15 years completely throwing their lives upside down. She has had no control over any of it and has reacted only when Walt has forced her hand. She even tried to embrace it to a point and kind of started breaking bad in her own way but that has backfired. I think her story arc is great. This show isn't just about Walt and Jesse.

I disagree. Skylar is a ***** and she embraced the money after she slept with beneke and she was staring at her feet on his heated tile floor. The only thing she is good for is cooking books.

I honestly feel like Walt is the one that will end up dying. Not Jesse or hank. It's like scarface, Pacino had to die or the movie would have been poo. Walt has gone to far to go back, and has done to much to make it out alive. I do think there is a slight chance that Jr. dies though, and that will be the incident that causes Skylar to go even more off the deep end, which will probably result in Walt having to kill her.

She only slept with Ted so it'd piss off Walt and he'd leave. Like I said she's only reacted when Walt has forced her hand. I find it amazing that Walt can poo all over her and everyone loves him but the second she fires back she's a bitch.

Personally, I loved the episode. I've always thought Skylar was a beyotch too, but when I step back and look at it she's the human here. As much as I love Walt, you aren't really supposed to "cheer" for him like you did when he was trying to defeat Gus. Gus is gone, Walt is the danger now. He's killed, he poisoned a child, etc. What has Skylar done? As natty said, she's reacted. There is nothing she can really do except wait.

Also, what significance is there to the watch Jesse gave Walt? Obviously it means something, can't really decide what though. Time running out (the close up of the hand ticking at the end of the episode, and also going back to the 1st episode of the season Walt's cancer seems to be back). And even then, what is time running out on? Walt's life, his sanity, cooking, etc.? Or maybe Jesse and Mike are one step ahead of Walt and planted something in the watch? Mike and Walt have always seemed to fight over control of Jesse, and he has continued to protect Walt...but maybe time is running out on that as well.

she fuged her boss when he was dealing with chemo

Yeah, it was messed up but as pointed out it was a reaction to Walt. Not saying it's right or justified, but she didn't go out and do it for pure enjoyment. Skylar is definitly a little ***** who I want to hate...and I still do. But Walt is the one we're supposed to hate, but can't.

everything walt has done has been for skylar and his childrens

I would definitely agree for his kids to an extent...but for Skylar?

If he were doing it for his family, he would've made his money and retired. With Gus out of the picture, he could run the car wash to make money or simply move his family out of town and out of danger. Walt continues to do what he does for him. He doesn't entirely like being Walt IMO and prefers to be Heisenberg now. Heisenberg allows him to be different, escape his family life, his high school teaching job, his cancer, etc. and be a badass. It became a thrill for him and the power is what he truly cares about...definitely not Skylar. The dialogue in the last episode between them shows hardly any love left. He's worried about her telling Hank or whoever about his operation...he could care less about Skylar's mental stability or he wouldn't continue to make her launder money into the car wash and all that jazz. Even what he does for Junior is to only gain admiration. He bought himself the fancy car first, he didn't get one for Junior until later. He looks out for numero uno and that's definitely not his family. For me, Walt loves power and not much else now.

Agreed. One of the things that Vince G, the creator said about this season is that the audience is going to turn on Walt, he truly will become "bad". Whatever they have in store for Walt is going to be pretty bad, that's why I think he ends up killing members of his family, I.e. Skyler

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
