Breaking Bad Season 5 (Here)

During the closing scene, Walt tlks to Jesse about how Gus kills victor for getting too "close". I have not been able to make the connection of what Walt was getting at.

Also, am I the only one who thinks cooking in houses is irresponsible and freaking retarded?

Getting too close to the sun - aka Icarus - being over confident and overstepping his bounds. It's hard to say what he really means. Mike overstepping by having everyone pay into the 'legacy tax' or Jesse overstepping by saying he'd pay when Mike and Walt were having their alpha male moment? Who knows.

I think cooking in houses is pretty solid. Not as ideal as the original lab but the best they can do.

Does anyone think the cockroach in the house foreshadows them possibly getting busted for never fully exterminating the houses, which will eventually result in them looking for another idea?

Im inclined to think that he is talking about Mike but I think its more than just the 'legacy tax' and its his whole demeanor. Mike has been very forceful and could be seen to be trying to assume Gus' role and of course Walt thinks that spot on the throne is his.

So to complete the Icarus analogy, Walt is Daedalus. And just like Daedalus crafted the wings and warned Icarus to not fly too high, Walt will engineer the tools of Mike demise and let Mikes personality drive him to his own destruction.

I've heard so many supposed spoilers about the last few episodes of this season.

-Skylar wants to go to the DEA so Walt strangles her.

-Mike ends up in federal prison somehow

-Jesse gets shot

-Walt Jr. dies in a car crash

-Steve Gomez is secretly part of the drug trade

-Steve Gomez dies from the ricin cigarette

-Hank finds out during the last episode of this years half season

i can see #4 coming from a mile away. the rest are entirely feasible and highly likely imo

Well I think that the fact this season is started up as slow as it has, I could see all of this feasible. poo has to hit the fan soon....

When is episodes 9-18 coming on?

I'm convinced Walt will be exposed and go on the run. He's getting sloppy, buying flashy cars, and if you remember the very first episode of this season he was at a diner making a 52 with his bacon and using an alias and had a huge machinegun in his trunk. Seemed like maybe a last stand sort of a thing, and obviously would be a year from yesterday's episode. Walt had died completely, and only Heisenberg remains. He doesn't care about Skylar anymore whatsoever. His indifference toward her even after her saying she wanted the cancer to come back is remarkable. Hank is also setting up surveillance on Mike, so he'll eventually see him with Walt, which will bring back memories of his boss mentioning how Gus used to come over to his house for BBQ's, right under his nose. Hank will put it together that Walt is a chemistry genius, paid for his PT, has nice cars. He already made a remark about Walt being a millionaire car wash owner. It's only a matter of time.

I think the pacing is good. Maybe a tad bit slow but there's tension building. The end of season 4 wiped the slate clean as far as what's driving the story so they have to take a bit of time to establish what's the story is about now(and the psyche of all the characters). I think they've accomplished that now with Skylar actually speaking.

Slow? Boring? Are you guys serious?

The confrontation with Skyler was EPIC Walt and its when he is in that mode that you really see his genius in action. Countering every point or idea with a barrage of negativity in a way that makes her actually believe that they are dead ends. And then her attempt to hurt him at the end of it by telling him that she was waiting for the cancer to return. fuging Brilliant scene.

The Cars? Walt's realization that the Aztec has become a liability and has to go, the new car that Jr was all meh over resulting in his second Challenger. The whole bit was quite entertaining.

The twist with Hank getting promoted and sidelined for the case really should create more breathing room for Walt while at the same time setting up a parallel between Walt and Hank to the one between Fring and ASAC Merket.

I cant say I was at all disappointed.

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
