All these threads are boring

Yeah, so I'm starting a new one.

With Gettis returning, how do you all think the WR/TE picture will shake out next season. Personally, I'd like to see:

WR

Steve Smith

Brandon LaFell

David Gettis

Legedu Naanee

Kealoha Pilares

Armanti Edwards (Maybe)

TE

Greg Olsen

Jeremy Shockey

Gary Barnidge

Armanti is a maybe for me. If he makes progress as a returner or as a receiver this offseason, keep him. If not, part ways ASAP cause he's just eating cap space for nothing.

Lafell, Pilaries, and Smith will be the only WR left on team. Gettis will have to prove his worth again. I see carolina going out and getting a free agent wr, spend the draft on defense and an ot. With Cam rushing/passing the ball so well, both deangelo and stewart become trade bate. Stewie seams to run the screen more so so I forsee deangelo being traded. Things are going to get very crazy in the off season resulting in a Superbowl run in 2012.

There are two questions irt Gettis.

1. Will he be able to return at 100% next year. I was listening to one of the local sports medicine doctors associated with Wake Forest a few months ago, and he said it can take as long as 2 years to recover fully from an ACL injury. So its not a certaintity that Gettis will be at 100% next year. If he doesn't, then I feel ok with Smith/Lafell/LN/Gettis (in a part time role), but it means we might have to look at a future replacement for Smith in case Gettis doesn't pan out.

2. If he does come back at 100%, will he actually be as good as we think or hope. Only playing time will answer that question.

To answer your question, my belief is that the receiver picture will look much the same next year as it does this year, but with Gettis being worked into the lineup, proably at the expense of Nanee.

Regarding the Tight ends, I am not sure if we will sign Shockey again. He has been great this year, but with Olsen in the fold, the staff might decide to see what they have in Barnidge.

Gettis's straight line speed will probably be unaffected when he comes back, but his ability to stop and start and make cuts on a slant may be diminished the first year.
This is true. My Dad had an ACL replacement. It needed months to really settle in there good, but a year later it was like it never happened. But he wasn't running receiver routes XD.

This fine young male ass board won't let me start a thread, this seems like a good spot for this.

Goodson hasn't sniffed the field all year. I understand that Williams and Stewart have the position on lock down, but there is room for a third back to get a few snaps. I feel like he is not well liked by the coaching staff. I believe this is his third year, is he a free agent in the offseason? I am assuming he'll bounce if that is the case.

Do research before opening your mouth and letting so much stupid spew out.

    • You and I both know there isn't a coach we could or can still hire that can "fix" Bryce Young. Even at mighty Alabama with one of the best modern coaches in college football history Mac Jones was still a better QB than Bryce Young. Mac Jones.... We already know how you feel about Canales on a personal level so in that regard you wanting him fired is not news. You don't have to disguise it behind this shroud of rabble about not fixing Bryce Young. To his credit he somehow had us competive against the Chiefs and the Eagles on the road with #9. But no coaching staff can overcome their starting QB turning the ball over 4 times. We definitely have developed some of our younger offensive pieces. And as far as Evero goes he has earned criticism and if he's fired so be it but in his defense many of us said in the offseason this defensive roster was a disaster waiting to happen given the resources we spent on the offense while neglecting the defense. That was Dan Morgan's plan. He swung too hard toward offense to salvage the Bryce Young trade. That's on him. We can scream about XL all we want but at least he's actually been on the field for the most part. The Brooks pick was a luxury pick at the time and now it is a Hurney level blunder. Dan Morgan has gotten a lot of early praise here when in reality he's unequivocally deserving of significant criticism. But if you say that some people get up in arms because he's a former Panther. Big whoop. He has just as much to prove this upcoming season as Canales. That's why to me in my own personal opinion I say one more season and then if it's more of the same say goodbye to both.
    • It's a decent vid with compelling reasons for his opinion. But, my thing is is that you simply can't draft McMillan thinking he is a surefire WR1. There are questions. His 40---rightly or wrongly---will play a part. I'd think that his splits (which will speak more to his game translating to the pros in my mind) are more important.  As much as you're trying to sell us that McMillan is a don't-overthink-it-type-of-player, I wouldn't say that's the case. Workouts will play a part in all of this.  At this point, I like the thought of Tetairoa. That's as much as I can give you right now.
