Gabbert may be bad enough to make Jaguars draft another QB

I'm not sure if this comment is serious or not. He's got ONE receiver in his 30s, and that 30something year old receiver is still one of the best in the league. If you think Cam is helping Smitty more than Smitty is helping Cam you're delusional. Smitty even almost single handedly kept Jake Delhomme employed for 7 years.

How long has Jake Delhomme been gone from this team?

Gabbert was a major part of their win vs the Bucs actually, and had many of the fans over there thinking he might actually turn out okay. You just don't think he has shown anything at all because you have hated the guy from the start.

Gabbert may not be the answer there but he's had his moments. Time will tell how he turns out.

Seeing that it was you who was putting Blaine and every other QB above Cam during the preseason, it's very hard for me to take you serious but I do I respect your opinion and feel you have to right to feel how you feel and so do I?

BTW, I never felt Blaine was a top five pick and stated it from day one. I personally felt that he was where he was simply because the media needed their "All American QB" and his agent is a very media friendly guy.

I said it before, I would place Jake, Cam, Mallett, Ponder and Dalton all above Blaine. And, judging by his own college experience, everyone else did also before the draft. It was only the media who was hyping Blaine after Luck said no to the draft.

terrible situation for him. they are an awful team in almost every facet of the game and they really threw him to the wolves this season. maybe he simply is no good, but they should have kept garrard for a year or two and brought him along slower.

Wow...there is always an escape route with some of you folks. Many chanted for Blaine, even thou it was clear Del Rio didn't want to put him in. The Jags' fans got what they wanted. And as usual, the second guessing goes on.

I don't think I was putting Blaine above him during preseason at all actually, you said Gabbert wasn't getting negative press and I pointed out that he was indeed getting negative press. In fact I didn't think either guy should start when they were drafted till next year. Obviously I was wrong about Cam. I've always thought Gabbert could develop into a good quarterback but I never wanted him at #1. I did think that Gabbert would transition better than Cam with time but I was wrong there... I never thought Gabbert played better in the preseason or w/e though.

I don't know why you think 'everyone else did also before the draft,' or whatever... Gabbert went before all but two of those guys.

Gabbert was hyped before Luck stayed in school, but that is neither here nor there.

Correction, Blaine is now getting negative press along with the endless excuses. The new excuse for his playing or lack there of is, he's the youngest QB to play in the NFL...I simply can't anymore with some of these fans.

Anyway, I honestly believe those in the media who were hyping Blaine, knew he wasn't as great as they were painting him to be and he didn't belong in the first half of the draft nevermind the top pick. But the media knows it's audience and knew by aligning Blaine with Cam many of you would quickly see Blaine as good as better then Cam simply because they said so.

Case in point The Golden Calf of Bristol. The constant comparison of Cam and Tim is laughable. To see the same folks who are easily accepting all the well covered self-centered behavior of Tim are the same folks who sit there and read every negative poo into Cam's actions.

And, I fault you Panther fans for a lot of poo directed at Cam. Your nonstop nitpicking and endless threads about everything he does or doesn't do is ridiculous. The Golden Calf of Bristol gets to kneel before the camera and it's looked upon as so sincere, sweet and humble. Cam puts a towel over his head after he takes of his helmet and gets all kinds of negative poo read into it.

Gabbert didn't play a horrible game against the Falcons, anyone who actually watched the game would know that.

He has no offensive line, his receivers seem to make an effort to drop his passes, and he still didn't put up awful numbers.

He's definitely the franchise quarterback for this team, or he should be, as long as we help him out.

Cam would be doing bad with our offense, as well.

The very first game Gabbert played in had a headline saying he didn't play very well... and that was a preseason game

Cam would probably still look better but not nearly as good as he does now. I do think with a couple of decent draft choices and a change in scheme though the Jags offense could get back on track quick.

Now for the bad. In my 20-plus years in the NFL, I don't think I have seen a high first-round pick look as scared or as out of place as Blaine Gabbert. The game looks entirely too big for him. When the ball is in his hand, he treats it like a hot potato. His play was embarrassing, considering he was a top 10 pick. I believed Gabbert was a good prospect and wrote about it leading up to the draft. When everyone was concerned about his down-field throws, I thought he would be able to adjust. But never did I think his eye level would be this low, his unwillingness to hang in the pocket this bad. I readily admit my mistake. Now the Jags need to do the same. The longer they play him, they run the risk of losing the team. How can they expect the players around him to buy in? Gabbert cannot fool his teammates. If he continues to play like this, no one will want to play with him.

Now, I understand it is really early in Gabbert's career, and the Jags have a pedestrian offense and no receivers around him. But his play borders on that of an undrafted free agent. Organizations that are the most successful are the ones that ignore draft status and evaluate the players on how they play. I realize the Jags have a significant investment in Gabbert, but they have a bigger one in winning games.

Jags GM Gene Smith has a huge problem. He has to lure a coach into Jacksonville and convince that potential coach that what he is seeing on tape is not the player who Gabbert really can become. Who would want the job saddled with a first-round bust? Smith can find anyone to agree to becoming an NFL head coach, but the good candidates will walk away, or won't even interview.
