Beal headed to NBA

Florida freshman Bradley Beal is leaving Gainesville after just one season.

According to sources, the 6-foot-3 Beal -- whose return would have made the Gators a Top five preseason team next season -- will announce his departure on Friday at a news conference at 10:30 a.m.

Beal averaged 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists this past season and, according to several NBA executives, will be a high lottery pick inn June's NBA Draft.

One NBA executive said that Beal could even be taken as high as second overall.

Heard he was really torn about this decision.

Beal really was torn. He loved being in college and hooping it down there.

Of the lottery picks, only the Kentucky boys are left to declare. Only one sure top 15 pick went back to school, Cody Zeller, unless you believe Mcadoo & Quincy Miller would have cracked the top 15 if they declared.

A lot of underclassmen with potential and talent declared. This draft is loaded. A team with the first 10 picks in the 2nd round is pretty much guaranteed to get a guy who would be a first round talent in most recent prior drafts.

If we don't get Davis, I'll gladly settle with MKG. I see him as a Gerald Wallace clone, maybe a bit better. He's explosive and an outstanding defender. Obviously if you get the first pick, you take Davis but it's unlikely we get the first pick... only a 1/4 chance. MKG fills a bigger need anyways.

Think Beal is a better player than MKG but think MKG fits our team/needs better.

Still sebating who I'd want at 4 if for some reason we get it. Definitely wouldn't be Drummond.

I want to say NO has two lottery picks this year so I'm sure we could pusue that if we don't get number 1.

Quincy Miller just declared for the draft. Not a big deal in itself (though I wouldnt mind him if we had a pick in the late teens/ early 20s), but does reiterate how silly the new NCAA deadline is. They changed the deadline players must declare to April 10th, but all it is doing is forcing players to lie about their intentions ahead of time. It does nothing to help coaches, because teams still dont know who is going pro by April 10 because there is not a damn thing the NCAA can do if a player decides to enter the draft after their deadline

I have been thinking about this lately.... If we get the #1 pick of course we take Davis...

However I think prospects 2 through about 7 or 8 are all about equal in that they have potential but some short coming in their game that does not make them a instant huge impact player. At this point I just think we need talent and not any particular need or specialty. Therefor if we have the #2-#4 pick I would try to trade back to around #6, #7 and rack up future draft picks. I think it would work this year because other teams will need to address a specific need (Like pairing a good shooting guard with Irving in Cleveland or someone who does not really create for others) while we just need to start acquiring talent. I am not convince that for us drafting at 2 or 3 is any different than 6 this year.

Which players do you really want at that spot? I wouldnt mind trading down if we had an underrated player in mind, but its tough to pass up on guys like Thomas Robinson and Kidd-Gilchrist with that high pick
