I would love to have Matt Kalil even though our defense is horrific. The thing about this is there is no way he falls to us, if the Rams and Vikings are picking in front of us. The good thing about this is we will be in position to draft Morris Claiborne.

Hell I'm not even going to speculate how the draft is going to go in December. No point. Rather see what happens in FA first to see what we need in the draft.

It'd be great to have him, however, our D needs all the attention it can get. No use being able to score 30 a game if we're going to continue to allow 31 a game.......

Yeah best chance for us to get him, is for him to pull and Eli and basically demand to go somewhere specific and in this case to play with his brother. Seeing as this will never happen, he will be a top 3 pick but it will give us more guys to choose from. And if Barkley comes out, a potential trade down partner.

As much as I would LOVE it, our D's play speaks for itself.

Can you imagine the chemistry of a blood related/family oline?...nasty. I guess in the same sense it could be real bad too...

I know we need defense, and I agree.

But, if we are in a position to take this cat we take him.

One reason that I haven't thought about is because of rookie pay scale.

LT's cost soooo much money. I.E. Gross is almost elite and he is 10 million per year. We could have a franchise LT on the cheap for 4 seasons.

Money matters.

we shore up 2 positions on the OL.. LT for the future, and Gross to finish his career at RT.. Otah is a non-issue, and finding a replacement is now solved..

if we want to run a good offense and keep the D off the field.. this would be my 1st priority.. defense can still be addressed throughout the rest of the draft..

What will Hurney trade in order to move up to draft Kalil?

I think the Panthers' Defensive Line has potential. I think Jason Shirley and Frank Kearse can grow into a formidable duo. Still not sold on Fua and McClain, but I don't think the D line is hurting as much as it was earlier, so they don't need to draft there with all to young guys they have on it.

I still maintain that they should look to free agency for DB help. That's a skill position. You can pick up older guys there for two or three years (ala the Ken Lucas deal back in the day). They can win next year if they have guys back there who have already proven they can play in the NFL.

I think the Panthers need to draft some LINEBACKER HELP if they go Defense. If they go into next season expecting anything from JON BEASON or Thomas Davis, then they are setting themselves up for failure. It's time to start thinking about franchise linebackers again. You can always pick up one of those after the first round.

With that said, if they can get Kalil, they should. It'll probably take a trade though, because the Panthers will probably win again.

I love Kalil. LOVE him. But offense is not our problem right now. We need help on the D-line and the secondary. There will be a chance to grab a lighting quick CB in Claiborne and we have to take it. Unless we find help in the secondary, Claiborne simply has to be our guy. That being said, forget about Andrew Luck, Kalil will be the best thing in this draft IMO.
