Week 14 draft thread

I know we have other threads dealing with the draft but our draft position and biggest position need seem to be fluid. It appears we will pick between 6 and 10 and our secondary was abused in Atlanta. There is not a top 10 pick at DT so who could benifit the team?

I think it is safe to say kalil will beoff the board as well as Blackmon. I think for a postion of need we may have a shot at Claiborne.I doubt the coaches have seen enough of Hogan to determone if he is a solid number 2.

I also think we should still look at OT and think still some great talent will still be availible.

provided we keep some of the quality depth we had starting for us this year n D I have changed my list of priorities quite a bit.

I want another shut-down corner and I want him chosen to be as compatible with Gamble as possible. I like Gamble and I don't want it to be a competition thing because Gamble's focus, confidence, and overall psyche seem to fail him sometimes. When he is on however he is one f the best.

I want a DT. I think Coples can do the job. Not because I am a UNC homer as much as I want an athlete instead of a tub in there. Coples is a stud as long as he is not counted on to be the focus. With CJ, Hardy, Applewhite, etc. in there he won't be.

I really want Gross's replacement. Not gonna go there because it's my list and I don't have to.

After that, consolidate the WR's and trade the fat along with Jimmy, Goodson, draft picks and Hangartner for the closest thing you can find to Brad Hoover on the planet.

I know there would have to be more moves but if I get the above I trust Hurney to handle the rest in his sleep.

When it comes to getting a corner, I feel Brent Grimes would be a great pick-up in FA. (Really, my first choice would be Mario Williams. If we can't get him, then Brent Grimes. I would consider it to be a good FA period if we get either of them) Also in the draft, I think we could pick up Robert Blanton in the 4th, and he would develop into a Chris Gamble type corner with good tackling ability.

cool, three names to watch

i saw the trade down comments above. I agree with that idea. Not sure we willhave o though as I see us winning at least two more.

My wishes are regardless of moves to get there. I don't propose that I can predict that many moves. I just know what I want to see come out in the wash.

Is it me, but I would never draft a guy to be the number two guy at his position, I want a guy to come in to be the number 1 at his position, i.e. Every man can lose their job.

Considering there are (2) starting CBs.. I think it doesn't matter if we draft a #1 at his position. It's not like a RB where we draft Jonathan Stewart with our top pick to be a backup behind DeAngelo Williams, and only one of them will be on the field at a time. Either way, Hurney has proven that he will draft a #2.

While I think Mo is a good corner, I don't think he is the best in this draft. I feel like he looks a little better than he his do to talent around him. I think he would fit the search for no.2 CB, however, I'm with the poster above me.......I want no.1 man talent at what ever positon we draft.

Either way, I would love seeing us get two day 1 starters in this draft and everyone we draft make the team. We got lost time to make up for!

Too early to be picking specific names at specific positions until we get closer to the draft. As for needs, I like the BPA method. With as many injuries as we seem to have every year, what we perceive as a need or a strength seems to change from April to September. I thought we were set at DT this year until we had Edwards go down, several guys from last year were cut, etc.

As for next year I want to pick up a corner but whether we pick first round, or third round depends on who is there when we pick, their value, etc. At this point last year, Hogan was healthy for example before he blew out his knee.

I also think we will need some OLB/DEs if we go to more of a 3-4 look. Might need some ILBs as well if we make the change. Rivera says he isn't going to, but after this year I suspect everything is on the table. I would like a free safety if there is an Ed Reed out there. I would want a DT for sure but think we might be okay with what we have right now. Lets see what happens this Sunday.

As for offense, really we could use some depth and perhaps a guard/tackle combo guy, a wide receiver although I heard Smith say in an interview last Sunday that "when he retires in 5 years and looks at his grandkids."........... So if that means he wants to play through 2015, I don't see a need to get a replacement for another 2 years. Quarterback and running back are set and so is TE. We don't need a traditional fullback so really our needs are not that big.

Consider bringing in a new punter and a kicker and we should be good.
