What's up with the run defense?

It's not so much out of the backfield, since as long as they're behing the line of scrimmage Godfrey will be on them.

But holy poo if they run a drag route out of the backfield/slot they can pretty much count on being wide open.

Dan Connor sees an opportunity to be beat off the first cut and just salivates.

my worry would be if we have to get Godfrey to focus on covering their TEs.

This week will tell us if our run D the past 2 weeks has been a fluke

not buying this. they have a more versatile RB than tampa or the falcons. blount and turner are only good ball carriers. they are poo as receivers. turner's only saving grace is that he can pass block. that's why he's on the field more than blount.

they are really only useful as a carrier if they are playing ball control offense which is only if they aren't in a shootout or are in the lead.

blount was easier to stop because if he was on the field at all, you could be sure that it was because they were going to hand it off to him. it was really predictable and easy to control. you jump out ahead by a couple scores and you make him pretty much useless. he's only on the field for first and second down.

with turner, it was kind of the same situation. if they were behind or it was a pretty obvious passing situation you pretty well knew that he was only going to be there as a blocker.

guys like foster, forte and even kevin smith are dangerous because they are such threats as a receiver. they can be used on pretty much any down and they just aren't nearly as predictable. like fiz said, depending on where they line up and the route they run they can be lethal because of whose responsibility they become.

a lot is also going to depend on how quickly we can get a lead, if we can get one at all. our offense is going to have to be able to jump ahead pretty quickly and our defense is going to have to slow them up quite a bit for us to be able to take them out of running situations but that will only have a nominal effect as they will still be tough to account for since foster is so versatile.
