What's up with the run defense?

Have the Panthers finally figured something out? I wasn't surprised to see that Blount was held in check, because we were able to stack the box against the Bucs. But holding Turner to 76/3.6ypc was pretty unexpected.

What did we do different against the Falcons, and do you think we will get a repeat performance against Arian Foster?

Well, Fua and McClain have been out for those 2 games, that might have something to do with it.

Senn will get blown out of holes sometimes because of his size, but he just has a great nose for the ball and he has made some fantastic tackles.

Senn isn't afraid to hit and he's much better downhill than Jason williams or any of those other guys who looked afraid to hit

I'm not going to lie here, during the Lions match-up, I literally saw Fua get completely shoved out of the way like it was nothing. I never seen an NFL DT get blown up like I saw that day. So if you replace Fua and McClain with anybody, our run defense would have no choice but to improve.

Svitek is one of the worst run blocking guards combined with turners annual slide and the quick deficit we put them in.

I saw the same thing...I remember telling my wife he could at least fall down in the hole and be a speed bump.

I think they've been better, but I'd say it's mostly due to getting a lead on both teams. I thought they did well against Turner though.

Teams figured out that our passing defense (outside of Gamble) also sucks hard

Funny what happens when you put DT's in the game that are not getting blown off the LOS and generally man-handled.

Both Fua and McClain may develop with time... but Neblett, Kearse and Shirley have done a much better job of holding their ground and even collapsing the pocket at times.

I can see McClain developing into a Warren Sapp type player, but I'm not quite sure Fua is going to make it.

Run defense has always sucked. Run defense will always suck. Just the way it is, I guess. I'm just waiting for the Panthers to prove me wrong one of these seasons...
