Dear TRD,

I'm not as active on this boardas other members and don't know what else you post in other threads but just based on your replies in this one, I will draw some conclusions:

Why are you a panther fan? Why you speak? Nothing you say indicates any compasition for panthers. Nothing is ever good enough for you. You mentioned cam has impressed you yet you criticized him as not good enough to your standard.

What's your standard?

Are you forgetting what this team was last season?

You're looking at the wrong side of the stick dawg.

It appears that only a rookie quarter back with 6000 pass yards and no interceptions will make you be be proud of this team.

Imagine if we drafted a bust qb and we'd b back in 2 - 14 season again without any light for many years.

You don't appreciate the fact that we got a once in a lifetime talent in our backyard. A talent that every team prayes for.

If cam is not good enough by this point, then you should consider criticizing another team or sport.

Do you seriously watch the games and cross your fingers so cam slips up so you can come here and play the i-told-you-so tape over and over again? (That's a question)

I guess I, or us, or better yet, all of us can't stand someone who doesn't appreciate how lucky we are to have cam and how bright the future of this franchise is.

You, on the other hand, appear to have somewhat of a personal issues with him, not giving him credit where credit is due.

Nobody in this city, league or even universe can give two squirts of hot steaming piss about whether you approve of him or not.

I don't know why you think TRD is disappointed or looking for mistakes in Cam, he just speaks his mind. He's been pretty complimentary of the guy overall, but he isn't required to be as impressed by his number of rushing touchdowns as some are.

I am embarrassed, but not ashamed to admit that when there was talk about drafting Newton I considered turning in my fan card based almost exclusively about what the media was saying about Cam at the time. I hadn't taken the time to properly research the young man and learn about him myself and it has taught me a lesson that you simply cannot trust the media to accurately portray anyone unless they fit some archetype of what a player is "supposed to be", on and off the field.

I am proud to admit that after being a vocal doubter, I turned the page on the first snap he ever took if not before that. He's the real deal in every meaning of the word and I am proud that he is a Carolina Panther. Despite what I thought about him due to the media pushing certain angles about his past, he is beyond doubt a pretty good dude. A little arrogant and a little self-important, but you have to have that in a quarterback. Those are traits that happen to coincide with winners in this game.

My blind non-support of Newton was just as bad as the blind support of those that had ulterior motives behind Carolina being interested in him. From a football standpoint, I respect the opinion of those that saw what we haters didn't but from a sociological standpoint I still think some of those folks fell into a diamond in the rough strictly by accident.

newton is accurate, a qb has to take chances or he will be no good. you cant play SAFE ball and win in the nfl like some qbs. and qbs who play that style always have good defense to back them up when they are the ones "winning the whole game by themselves". lol

newton is a rookie and is still learing not force the ball in certain situations and to be more careful of dbs lurking around the area he's throwing the ball to. so many of his ints came from unlucky tips and a few td throws just missed the goaline by an inch.

only one time have i seen the ball sail on him but that was just a fluke in the alanta game. newton does throw high somtimes but, no one really can intercept the ball because it's so high. i dont believe he will end the seaon with more picks though.

and rushing does matter because it makes it harder for other teams to defend you when you can also throw just as good.

just as I may appear, I speak just as another point of view of yourself.

While you believe that it just might be as you think, you may have to consider what you sound like from another perspective.

You are entilted to think and express what ever you may find appropriate from your stand point, and I have no right to attempt to change that but just bring it to your attention, which is that there is a major amount of people that strongly oppose on your views about cam newton.

If you want to keep going with that small crowd that is skeptical about newton than be my guest.

And to the person who accused me of giving a damn about what trd said, I don't.

I plainly input the response that many may get from what trd said, which vanishes after carolina huddle session.

I also plainly explained that I drew a conclusion on trd's views and opinions about our qb, not trd as a personor poster regarding any other topic, which I don't doubt he has much contribuited and appreciated for.

This post has found its way to the Auburn message boards where Cam is obviously already a legend...after all, we have a statue being built for him.

He was constantly ripped by the media for everything prior to the draft. The one criticism I thought was the most unfair and false is their claim he didn't work hard and wasn't a "student of the game." I think his play this season proves that THE MAN is willing to put in every bit of effort to keep getting better. He hates losing and he's voiced his frustration several times this season.

Another unfair criticism prior to the draft was he wasn't a good teammate. If you watched our 2010 season, he was the team cheerleader and THE MAN the team turned to when we were down. From all the reports I had read, he has great locker room charisma...admittedly, he's not the best when talking to the media, but who cares. personally, I could care less if my QB can talk like a politician as long as he can lead the team and earns their respect and trust.

The comparisons with The Golden Calf of Bristol are absurd. Cam is better in all aspects of the game. He's a better and more accurate passer, he has a stronger arm, a quicker release, and is a faster and more elusive runner than The Golden Calf of Bristol.

I've always watched college more than NFL and was once a soft Falcons fan, but am now becoming a diehard Panthers fan bc I gotta follow and watch my boy Cam!

You forgot to add how inaccurate he was at Auburn. Didn't he break the record for passer rating last year?...In the SEC mind you. Imagine if all those dropped balls last year were actually caught.

Thought this was an interesting timeline for when the records were broken.

Week 1: Newton set the first NFL record for most passing yards in a professional debut.

Week 2: He became the first quarterback to ever pass for over 400 yards in each of his first two professional starts.

Week 13: Newton rushed for three touchdowns to bring his then-season total to 13—eclipsing Steve Grogan's 35-year-old record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback.

Week 16: He broke Peyton Manning's 13-year-old record for most passing yards by a rookie and he ended the game with 3,893 passing yards for the season with one game to go. At 7.9 yards per attempt, he averages nearly a yard-and-a-half more than Manning did in 1998 with 6.5 yards each time he threw the ball.

Week 17: Newton will become the first rookie quarterback to pass for more than 4,000 yards in a single season.
