***UPDATED THROUGH FINAL WEEK!***

TCF wanted someone to compile and post a record watch of Cam's rookie season because he is too lazy to do it himself. So here you go. I'm not perfect so please let me know if something is wrong or if I've missed something.

-Most passing yards by a quarterback in debut game (422)

-Most passing yards by a quarterback in first two games (854)

-Most passing yards by a rookie in a game (432)

-First quarterback in NFL history to pass for more than 400 yards in first career start

-First quarterback in NFL history to pass for more than 400 yards in first two career starts

-Sixth quarterback to throw for 400+ yards in back to back games

-First rookie in NFL history to pass for more than 400 yards in back to back games

-Fastest player to throw for 1,000 yards

-First player in NFL history with at least five rushing touchdowns and five passing touchdowns in his first five games

-First rookie in NFL history to throw for 10 touchdowns and run for 10 touchdowns in a season. Current: Thrown for 21, Rushed for 14

-First rookie quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards in a season.

-Most rushing touchdowns in single season by a quarterback (14)

The NFL mark for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback is 43, by Steve Young.....and Newton's a third of the way there already.

Set an NFL rookie record in the final week when he accounted for his 35th touchdown of the season.

The record for most rushing touchdowns in a rookie season is held by Eric Dickerson. Dickerson rushed for 18 touchdowns in his rookie year in 1983.

-Cam had 14 this season.

Cam now holds the record for rushing yards by a QB in his rookie season.

Old record was 552, by Vince Young. Newton had 706 this year.

He has broken Peyton Manning's rookie passing record.

-Cam Newton passed for 4,051 yds!

He has thrown for 21 TDs this season. He is one of just five rookies in NFL history to throw for at least 20 touchdowns in a season. The record is 26, set by Manning.

-Newton became the second player in NFL history with at least 20 touchdown passes and 10 rushing touchdowns in a season, tying Kordell Stewart who did it in 1997.

Cam Newton has become the first QB in NFL history to pass for 4,000+ yards and rush for 500+ yards in a single season. He had 4,051 Passing Yards and 706 Rushing Yards.

--Consider all the great athletic QBs that have come before him, Steve Young, Frank Tarkenton, Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick. Cam Newton will be able to accomplish something that these great QBs couldn't do their whole career, he accomplished this in his rookie year!

Set a franchise mark with a 91 yard TD pass to Lafell in Week 16 against the Bucs.

Rookie of the Week

-Cam has been nominated for ROTW 12 out of the 16 weeks thus far. His consecutive streak is 5 (WKS 1-5). For comparison, Dalton has been nominated 5 times so far. Cam has won it 3 times, Dalton has also won it twice.

CAM NEWTON HAS FINISHED THE SEASON WITH 4,051 PASSING YARDS, 706 RUSHING YARDS AND 35 TOTAL TDS! (21 Pass, 14 Rush)

Also here is a video I made, posted it here about a month ago but here it is again for those who missed it, I thought it was appropriate for this thread.

And people actually thought Dalton should be considered for ROTY...:beatdeadhorse5:

Back when it was like 7 wins for Dalton and 3 for Cam, along with Cam at that time having a lower completion %, less touchdowns passing, and more interceptions, it was a toss up. Now that the win gap is a little closer and Cam has a few more passing touchdowns it has become clear that Cam is ROTY.

Here's a 63-year old record Cam has already broken: he now has accounted for more TDs as a rookie than anyone in NFL history.

From Elias: Cam Newton threw a pair of touchdown passes in the Panthers' 31-23 loss to the Falcons. Newton has produced a total of 28 TDs this season-scoring 13 himself and passing for 15 others-breaking the NFL record for rookies that had stood for 63 years. Charlie Conerly threw 22 TD passes and scored five times for the Giants in 1948. Peyton Manning fell one short of Conerly's mark in 1998.

Too bad the average "Jane & Joe" that tune in to watch the football games on Sunday are unaware of these great feats. Let the facts be known sportscasters of America, it's you duty and job!

Which is why I wanted a thread just like this. I knew it would be a great thread, but 1, I'm kind of lazy and 2, I don't really care about the pi and swag

Plus, how would it look if I ever created a decent thread! Lol

very good. i love how some "posters" CLAIM that newton isnt breaking any record important for QUARTER BACKS. lol most his records are for passing and he is doing it against hall of famers. great job newton.

he should be the first with 15 pass/rushing tds too. and he could very well get to 20/20.

superman always had amazing feats anyways.
