This is the type of team we beat

Actually this is one of the most efficient offenses in football this year and the type of team that keeps you to under 20 points and the only way you can beat them is late in the 4th quarter. In all their losses, Houston, Baltimore and New Orleans all took the lead against Huston in the 4th quarter and won.

They play just like we try to most of the time and like most solid teams play. If they score early, they're good at playing with a lead and once they go up they get conservative and start playing for field position, forcing the other team to have to catch up and wait for them to make mistakes. This is actually just like we used to play with John Fox when we had a good passing game. Basic football. Nothing fancy. But they have it down.

Houston's weakness is in the 4th quarter. In their 3 losses, Houston D gave up:

New Orleans: 23 in the 4th

Baltimore: 13 in the 4th

Oakland: 10 in the 4th

That's their defense's weakness, not their team's. Their D tends to lay down even worse than ours in the 4th but it probably won't matter against us cause we can't fuging score in the 4th.

So I don't see any weaknesses in Houston as far as our match-up goes. Not even Yates. They can, even if we figure it out. They can also come back from behind. Yates is 2 for 2 in 4th quarter comebacks or game winning drives, and he didn't do it against scrub teams either. He beat Atlanta and Cincy, both winning teams looking for a playoff position. He's more ice than Matty Ice.

Btw, that's already more than Cam has in 15 games. Seems like Yates has a knack for it or maybe it was Jake Delhomme whispering something in the kid's ear. He didn't get flustered in his first 2 starts. Jake will probably be waiting for awhile to start there, so if you were hoping to see him in action, it's only going to happen if Yates gets hurt.

We're fuged. Don't get your hopes up. Sorry to rain on your parade. The silver lining: If we can beat these guys, we have arrived! It will be the first winning team we beat all year.

PS: Maybe our D can do something meaningful this year and knock Yates out and give Jake a chance to play in the playoffs. It's win/win for us. I'd rather we play against Jake than Yates at this point:D

it's a good thing that their YPP has taken a nose dive the last few weeks or we might be in trouble!

You can call it efficiency cause that's what it is. Rookie = less efficient and that's when he took over. Yates is wet behind the ears but as I said, he also came back from behind both times so it doesn't make a difference. You can screw the pooch early and it won't matter if you can finish right.

You are starting to sound like Teeray. His logic is rubbing off. It doesn't provide context when it even measured a QB switch?

WTF? Show me another stat in football that does that. Your logic is, yards per point isn't 100% accurate, so let's use one that is far worse, completely takes everything out of context, and completely useless: per drive stats. That makes sense.

Cause turnovers, interceptions, sacks and field position don't matter. As long as we don't look at any stats that takes those things in consideration our offense is awesome!

Virtually any measure of the offense would measure that kind of QB switch, heh.

You missed the point. Last week, Houston had a "terrible" YPP but they still won the game. YPP alone doesn't tell you enough about a team or a team's performance to say much at all.

Because nothing in football is 100% guaranteed else we would never have to play a football game. It is not 100%. It's about 80%. There's no rule that says it's impossible to play inefficiently and beat an efficient NFL offense. It does happen, but RARELY. Usually on the very last drive. Which is where the importance of that 4th quarter comeback stat comes in. And that's why I mentioned Yate's 4th quarter play as well as Houston's weakness.

Two efficient offenses playing each other...they will both end up efficient. But one will lose. When two inefficient offenses face each other, one will win, and will end up looking efficient. See ours against other inefficient offenses like Tampa, Indy, Washington and Jaguars.
