Panthers Stick with Mare, Add a nobody.

well nobody lost us a couple of games this year.

:D

Wrong. He contributed to the losses. The offense took its foot off of the pedal and went to sleep against both the Vikings and Falcons. In neither case would Mare's kick have done anything but give the Panthers an opportunity to win OR LOSE later on in the game. Based on how the offense was playing at that point, he probably would have just been delaying the inevitable.

This isn't to say he shouldn't have made the FGs because he should've, but the offense was as much to blame for both of those losses as he was, especially with Cam's idiotic interceptions on back to back possessions against the Falcons, and the lethargic stretch of Three & Outs against the Vikings.

The Defense played well enough to win both of those games, but when the Offense builds a lead, puts on the breaks, goes three and out or turns the ball over keeping the Defense on the field, the other team's offense is going to eventually break through.

That's what happened Sunday and against the Vikings.

Mare's missed Field Goals just delayed the inevitable, and it's easy to scapegoat him instead of blaming the offense for falling apart in both games. It's not like either miss would have won the game outright.

    • Irony yes you could say that as long as there is no intent to claim that because he left we all of a sudden got so bad we are losing all the time. Which it seems like you might be trying to imply.  Did we lose something? Yes we did. Was it worth 5 years at 28 mil per? Not to my thinking.

    • First: What do you think the word ‘scapegoating’ means? Because what I said was not scapegoating.  They are two different players playing two different roles.  I simply said two things about Burns, if I recall. One, basically he is a one dimensional player that is doing well because they have a very strong front in NY.  Two, I was against paying his price because he is a liability against the run. One dimensional and therefore not worth it.  Summing it up: he e is a pass rush specialist, about all I have ever felt about him, and his financial demands made him much less of a value.  IMO.
