I'm now with the fire Hurney train

He's a member of the NFL General Managers Advisory Committee, has been ranked in the top 10 GM's of all profesional sports 4 times over the past 8 seasons. Is widely considered to be the third best drafting GM behind Polian and Newsome.

The team was good but injury prone, it did reach the playoff's 3 times, the NFC title game 2 times and a SB in a 5 year span. Can you name how many teams have been to 2 NFC games and a SB over Hurney's tenure?

Panther's, Steelers, Patriots, Packers, Cardinals and Eagles. I believe that's it.

Stop saying he has been to two NFC Championship games and a SB. If he has been to a SB we know he has been to and won a NFCCG.

We have reached the playoffs 3 times in 10 seasons under Marty Hurney. In a division with the Bucs, Falcons, and until Brees the ever disappointing Saints.

Show me some of the ranking, and not on bleacher report.

He is not good at his job, and resides over a team that has consistently been inconsistent, and lately has been god awful.

lol right on, I hate when people try to make it seem like more than it is. Kind of puts perspective to how things really are. The SB year counts as making it to the SB, not a NFC championship and a playoff appearance PLUS a SB. That alone cuts all that crap in half.

Hurney isn't the worst though I think he is average and I think finding someone better is slightly less than realistic so that's probably a reason to keep him.

Sporting News rankings before the last draft.

Runner up in executive of the year in 2003.

As for the rebuilding comment, well look at his draft success in the first round and mid - late rounds. Check out his third round success throughout the years he's been here.

He gets blamed for being handcuffed by his owner for two years and the team being left with out talent after releasing, cutting or not re-signing over 20 integral players over a 2 year period due to the Owner saying to do that.

That was a team that had been to the playoffs 3 times over 5 years 2003-2008 and won over 70 games. That ranked 7th in the league in wins over that time, 2nd in NFCCG appearances and a SB appearance. Those are all top notch stats over that time period. He completely reversed the Panther's who barely won 20 games over the previous 4 years before he got here.

There's a damn reason, he still has a job (and will for as long as he wants to be here) , There also must be some reason that he is one of the most well respected GM's in the NFL. There's a reason that he's ranked so high in drafting, He's been doing in since early 90's when he was charged with overlooking the Charger's draft's and then it's Cap starting in 1993. The team he overlooked and help build there, won the 1994 AFCCG.

Not my fault most fans don't see how he's completely reversed the Panther's fortunes. Let's put it this way; If by some weird chance that he got fired here in Carolina, he would have a job as a GM as soon as he wanted one.

Those are older rankings, and Hurney has made some mistakes over the last few years. And this is a what have you done for me lately league.

If the team continues to struggle and have losing records, Hurney and Rivera will both be on the hotseat.

TY, just got back to this thread.

If you notice those are mostly around our "runs" in 03 and 08.

While awfully nice, that is in the distant rear view mirror.

BTW, how do you view Polian right now?
