Deangelo's Contract will be the Worst Thing to Happen to this Offense

Where is there a stat to show how much? Williams and Tolbert can be used in the same manner. Newton will be in his third year passing, opening up the run game even more. This offense does not need that read option ability to be very potent.

Don't have a stat...but from watching they were running the read option most for most of there combined yardage....and on many of Willliams pitch options. Williams did more traditional runs or was the pitch man.

Williams wasn't used bc #1 he had no prior experience with it and 2 it relies on the RB running between the tackles. Stewart was the ideal fit.

Offense doesn't need it. But it was the most efficient run game in the NFL bc of it. It turned into practically our most used formation to run out of.

I mean watch a highlight vid....and pay attention to how many of the run plays for Stewart and Cam come off the read option. It was a big tweak Chud made at Cam request and he killed teams with it.

Nothing personal but I'm certianley not going assume your right on a number based on what you remember months ago.

Besides Newton's half of the combined yards, doesn't matter. He can achieve that with Williams or Tolbert, because he is the one running.

Williams and Tolbert have two whole offseasons to expirence it. While Stewart is better at it, Williams and especially Tolbert are pretty capable at running between the tackles. Losing Stewart in now way means the loss of our read option.

Well, like said, go back and watch highlights then....it will give you a good idea of how big the read option was last year.

And if Williams could of ran it....Chud would have ran it with him some. Williams had no part in it.

Just by logic, do you really think of Williams 155 carries, that none of them were read option? Just off the top of my head is Williams 60 or 70 yard option touchdown against the Saints.

Stewart was used more and effective, but theres nothing about Williams play that would render the option ineffective.

That wasn't the read option. That was a pitch with Cam under center. DeAngelo didn't run the read option last year with Cam. Stewart was the read option RB...and that is Cam's bread and butter.

In case there is confusion....this

And

Is the read option. Williams never ran it. Stewart got lots of yardage as well as Cam read the play and would turn Stewart lose up the gut. Stewart's runs would set Cam up. Countless examples of Cam and Stewart moving the rock out of it....Williams didn't do it.

CRA stop while you are behind, Williams ran the read option plenty of times.

Here is one I found just by typing in Deangelo Williams Option play:

I don't have a problem with keeping Williams as a person as a player.

I have issue with the overvaluing of Running Backs as a Franchise and a Fanbase.

The days of pounding the rock 30+ times are few and far between these days.

Dwill (In my uneducated opinion) could have been had for less and the savings we had could go to more WR options for Cammy Cam and/or MUCH needed help on defense generating sacks/turnovers/ and pain in general.

I want the player, I do not want the contract.

Dwill couldn't of been had for much less, Miami had a very comparable offer on the table for him as well as Denver. That said a few of Dwill's big runs were off of Option plays, they however didn't run much of the Read/option dive play with Dwill and that's were Stewart got a lot of his yards off of. It's a play directly from Auburn's playbook and allows Cam to hand the ball off, Run it himself or pass it.
