Cam Newton is the Greatest Rookie QB of All Time

LMAO@PFFL still being pissed off we drafted Newton. He's foaming at the mouth. And I love it! He's definitely one of our former fans who'd rather lose with his guy (Moore who won 1 game for us last year) than win with our guy (Newt). Were a better fanbase without these sad people. Notice the Moore fans always try to link Jake's success with Matt. Theyre very careful to romanticize Jake as perfect to make their boy Matt seem better as well. Boy I tell ya people like PFFL have snapped trying to cope with #1. He's gone Agent Smith on us typing 20 long paragraps a post. I mean were talking Unabomber crazy here! I love it! Cam! Whoooa Caaam! Go Panthers!

Not to get nit picky but you need an apostrophe. Were and we're are so close, yet SO far away. /English lesson.

Thank you. I also want to add Cam is arguably the best rookie QB of all time. Roethlisberger was more successful and more efficient, but wasnt asked to do as much and had much better supporting cast. I clearly recall Roethlisberger looking very much like a rookie against Tom Brady in the AFCG in Pittsburgh that year. Just being compared to a QB like Roethlisberger is a compliment to Cameron. I do firmly believe he's the most NFL ready rookie QB in history. The production, the swagger, the positive attention he's brought to our franchise despite losing, Cam Newton was born to play QB for the Carolina Panthers. Let me repeat that again, Cam Newton was born to play QB for the Carolina Panthers.

You are a fantastic poster on this site. The majority of what you write here is some of the best, most readable stuff posted by anyone.

But what I don't understand is why you continue to turn such a frustrated blind eye in this regard. You REALLY don't think that some of the hate and bile directed at Newton out there, by writers, fans, and/or scouts, might POSSIBLY have or have had a racial element involved?

Really?

I'm not going to comment on the possibility that there are random wackjobs out there who are racist. What's the point? For one, I don't read comments on most websites because they are trolled harder than this one. For two, they're worthless sources of dsicussion by and large, regardless of bias.

I can tell you that the majority of posters here who a lot of you guys would identify as being "not 100% behind Newton" are not racist. By the OP's claim, however, they are either ignorant or racist and I don't think they are. I do think some of them are trolling you guys sometimes, but I do not think they are racist at all, nor ignorant.

That's not to say Cam doesn't face racial bias in his life, not to say it doesn't influence Observer comments or w/e, and that's not to say that even here we didn't have a single dumbass or two who thought that black QBs couldn't play. The point is that collapsing anyone who the OP thinks "isn't behind Newton" into being ignorant or a racist is ridiculous.

I have mixed feelings with Jake. He WAS a good quaterback, from about 2003-06. He was done in 2008 even when we went 12-4, he was barely getting by.

He seemed like such a good guy yadayada. But how do we know that he didn't start slacking in his work ethic? He obviously never corrected his mistakes that were observable in the film room. Steve Smith may have honestly spoiled the guy.

Matt Moore had always been better than him and we would have been way better off if ass clown Fox would have benched Jake 2nd half against AZ.

But yes Cam is doing amazing, I just hope that this is just the beginning.

As I was looking at my fantasy numbers this morning I noticed Newton has combined for over 4000 yards of offense this season. 3573 Passing and 554 Rushing with a combined 28 Touchdowns.

I have Cam (307.02) and Brees (297.52) as my Fantasy qb's which makes for hard choices every week; they are respectively number #2 & #3 in my league, separated by less than 10 points.

Dalton is in 13th place with 172.22 with 19 combined touchdowns.

i'm seriously getting tired of having race brought up into every discussion about cam.

get over it. are there people that are racist? of course. should we pay them any attention? nope, cause their numbers are dwindling, but thanks for keeping the discussion alive, though. it's really beneficial to helping people move forward to keep ripping open that scab. /sarcasm.

btw....can we please start moving these threads to the tinderbox?

He's also been the face of consistency for us.

I hope you mean consistency for being mediocre. Yeah he gave us a few great seasons but never the consistency we want.

2002: 7-9

2003:11-5

2004: 7-9

2005: 11-5

2006: 8-8

2007: 7-9

2008: 12-4

2009: 8-8

2010: 2-14

Yeah in theory it might be consistent but its not the type we want. When basically every other year is a down year you just get sick of it. I want back to back winning seasons and we weren't getting that with Fox. We wont get it this year but I can see it in 2012 and 2013.

Doesn't change the bigger point. He's the best coach this franchise ever had. He's also been the face of consistency for us. The guy's talking about sustained success. I'm pretty sure John Fox's run with us is considered pretty consistent and successful.

Rivera has damn big shoes to fill and Fox picked off right where he left off in 2009 and is outdoing himself his first year with the Broncos with a worse hand that what Rivera got handed to start off the season.

We were consistently average. Having only 3 winning seasons in 9 seasons isn't consistent at any level or in any form. Going 8-8 or worse in 6 of 9 seasons isn't very good :(
