What in the hell do you keep smoking to continue to actually say poo like that with a straight face? If we're 10th what are the other offenses doing, going backward on the field? If an offense just scored 0 points an entire half of a football game, threw 2 pics, had I don't know how many turnovers on downs, missed a FG, and lost the game to an ok but yet average offense and defense, is considered a top 10 offense, what the fug are the rest of the offenses doing? They have to have been able to figure out how to score negative points.

Maybe you missed this from earlier in the week

Someone posted the other day "Our defense is fine. When our offense doesn't turn the ball over we are averaging less than 20 points allowed per game!!"

That sounds great in theory but if you take the 4 games we didn't turn the ball over (Jax, Wash, Indy, Tampa) our defense allowed 17 points per game in those 4 games. But those team's combined Points per game average is 15.5.

That means that even without the benefit of Panther's turnovers these teams are still operating at 110% efficiency against their average points per game.

If you eliminate the monsoon game the opposing offenses are operating at 117% efficiency against their average points per game. All without the benefits of Panther turnovers.

So even though our defense is holding teams to less than 20 PPG when our offense doesn't turn the ball over the defense is still not playing as well as you'd like in those games.

Our defense is improving but still has a long way to go.

If you think allowing teams to operate at 117% efficiency against their average points per game without the benefit of turnovers is playing good or even average defense... well I don't know what to tell you. :(

The website which you proclaimed was the undisputed best website for statistics and takes into account every snap?? They have our offense ranked 8th.

And the whole YPP debate is played out. Remember when we had a top 2 in the NFL OYPP against Detroit??

And it is apparent that you don't understand what a vacuum stat means. It means when you use one particular stat without context or substantive stats along with a stat. Or just a stat in a vacuum. When I post 14 different statistics about our offense, that isn't a stat in a vacuum. It is a conglomerate of stats with all (or at least most) relevant context.

Not sure what defensive efficiency stat you are referring it to but if you are referring to scoring defense yards per point allowed, that's once again on the offense. That is yet another offensive efficiency stat and it tells you how bad our offense messed up and put our defense in bad defending positions. It's literally your opponent's offensive efficiency. It's exactly that number. And it's yet another stat you are now misusing, one I primarily explained to you in the first place. Efficiency in essence measures field position and turnovers. A defense has nothing to say about where it starts defending from and how many times they have to do it. Offense and special teams defense does.

Remember when I kept telling you that it measures scoring offense and that they are in fact different? You didn't get it then, and you still don't get it know. There is nothing played out about offensive efficiency. It remains the most important stat in football next to wins and losses. It's the most important aspect of a football team because your ability to score points is more important than any other. It has been and it WILL be again next season. If we don't have an efficient offense next season, we will lose again. And again and again. We will continue to lose and have losing seasons until we become efficient on offense consistently, REGARDLESS of any defense you can think of putting together.

Get the Purple People Eaters on your side. The Steel Curtain. It won't matter if you have an inefficient offense. You will lose and lose just as badly with those defenses.

Offensive efficiency is about as played out as winning itself. But I guess considering the mindset and excuses that keep taking place around here, I suppose a lot of so called self-proclaimed Panthers fans right now would argue and try to say winning is played out and overrated too.

Reality check: the Bears with Peppers, Urlacher and Lance Briggs just got beat by The Golden Calf of Bristol and allowed 10 points in the last 3 minutes of the game. Why did they lose? Cause The Golden Calf of Bristol's offense is more efficient than theirs. Their offense sucked today.
