Admit it, as soon as Rivera shut it down with 1 min left in 1st half...

No, I didn't. However, when we went 3 and out to start the 3rd and our defense surrended a huge drive, I knew we were in trouble.

When Cam then threw a pick, I figured it was the beginning of the end but I hoped that I was just being irrational.

this or GTFO you delusional bastards...

wasn't this the 9th game we lost in this fashion? you knew what you knew because of the trend, not because Rivera wanted to save the lead and keep our team fully ahead of our opponents..

Sorry bro... We're 4-8... Not 8-4...

We both know that that's what u *should* do... but we had nothing to lose and the Falcons were done.

The coaching staff sent the wrong message to the Falcons by doing that. Should have put our foot on their throats. Everything was clicking for U's to that point.

Either way, what's done is done, so nothing we can do about it.

I just hope that RR and co learn from all their mistakes this year, because if He does this same poo next year... Well we're doomed!

Bleys, if we only expected that because of "the trend," then I guess Mike Smith didn't expect a collapse at all considering he called those timeouts when we started doing it.

He knows we can't close games because we don't make adjustments. They did the same thing in Atlanta, difference was we didn't control that game at any point like we did this one.

How many times does the same thing have to happen before people understand it isn't just "being young" or things not going our way. There are some serious problems with coaching here.

Every single time we've done this this year, we've lost. It's been 100%. Nothing irrational about it. We were never up big enough against the Jags and Colts for it to be an issue, we kept pouring it on TB at the end of the half, and I'm pretty sure we kept motoring through the Skins too. Rest of the times? Losses for all of them.

vs TB was pushed because they got the ball to start the 2nd half. Rivera is doing it based on who gets the ball to start the 2nd half I think. He may also have remembered Cam's interception trying to force the ball down the field near the end of the half vs Atlanta weeks before.

I think it is too simple to look at that series and go "THAT'S why we lost!" especially since our defense didn't give up any points after it etc.

really? 4-8? nice...

hmm.. I didn't realize 1:30 could change 30 minutes that followed when our QB threw 2 picks and couldn't make an accurate pass...

execution has been our BIGGEST problem.. and not surprisingly so.

My response is in the first thread talking about it.

In other words-yes. I had hoped it was just a creeping feeling, but you knew as soon as we let off the gas that we were in trouble.

It's a football principle as old as time-Never Relent-and we broke that rule. We let up, played safe, and handed them the win. Guess we didn't wanna be "rude" and hurt their feelings. Rivera wanted to keep us "in our place" rather than getting bold and fighting on. It was embarrassing.

But mav, now imagine we actually try to drive down the field to end the first half and get at least a FG...

Now we get the ball in the second half... What if we get a FG there too? What if we got a TD on either of those drives? The game would've been over, no need to press if they score.

We play to not lose rather than play to win. Coach has changed but the philosophy hasn't...

That's key. The individual playcalling on offense and defense by the coordinators is definitely more aggressive than it was under Fox, but all of the in-game head coaching decisions are just as conservative as they've ever been.
