NCAA Soccer Championship - Tarheels vs 49ers

Not really a good forum for this, so thought I'd put it here.

Kinda cool that both teams playing the championship are from NC. Charlotte is one of the better defensive teams in the nation and the Tarheels are one of the best offensive teams in the nation.

Should be a fun game to watch. I'm not a soccer fan by any means, but I was on the edge of my seat for both games tonight.

I don't pay attention to NCAA soccer, but what happened to by boys at UConn? They were ranked #1 for a while.

Charlotte beat them on PKs after the game ended in a tie through two OTs.

Charlotte and Carolina both won on PKs last night as well.

great match and was very surprised how much the ref let go.

Exciting game, badly officiated. Lots of cards that should have been given out to Charlotte and a horribly blown no call that should have resulted in PKs for Charlotte.

It was an entertaining run and I loved the fact that the Charlotte fans drowned out and celebration of the Tarheel team. Our team and our fans represented well, we just couldn't put the ball in the net.

We have most of our starters returning, but we do lose 3 critical starters including one first team all american. At least our leading scorer was only a freshman. This run, and that kind of fan support, will do nothing but help recruiting going forward.

The refs really did blow it. 2 inside the box penalties missed for Charlotte(likely at least one goal) and one penalty just outside the box for Carolina. A great one timer from 30 yards for the Carolina forward though, not taking anything away from him.

All in all a fun game to watch. Not too disappointed in a loss as we were playing with house money after beating Akron imo.
