Garry Williams and Gary Barnidge extended

Williams’ deal was the bigger of the two, according to numbers obtained by ESPN.com. He was given a $400,000 signing bonus. He’s scheduled to make $550,000, plus a $100,000 workout bonus in 2012. In 2013, his salary will rise to $900,000 with a $100,000 workout bonus.

Williams is viewed as a player who can be a solid backup at guard and tackle and even has the potential to develop into a starter.

Barnidge isn’t a threat to take playing time away from Greg Olsen, but can be valuable as a backup, especially if Jeremy Shockey is not re-signed after this season. Barnidge was given a $50,000 signing bonus. He’s scheduled to make $615,000 next season and also can collect a $25,000 workout bonus.

interesting. i wonder if garry williams coming back puts anyone's jobs in question (particularly bell, ziemba, schwartz, bernadeau, hangartner). maybe even wharton who is making loads of money and not playing up to it.

also i wonder if barney is being brought back for his ST play or if TIGHT END GURU rob chudzinski approved him to become TE of the future if/when shock leaves.

shockey aint coming back..........

Disagree. I think Shock is here for at least 1 more year.

Good bye Wharton.

Travelle could be a cap casualty, but I doubt it. In spite of what Football's Future said, to my eyes he has been very solid this year. I do look for him to be restructured though.

We will typically carry 9 or 10 linemen into camp. If you count the starters as Wharton, Hangartner,Kalil, Otah and Gross, then that leaves Bell, Ziemba, Schwartz, Bernadeau and Williams. With Otah very questionable, and the likelihood that all 9 of them making it out of preseason healthy at 50% or less, I think we will need all of them.

As for Wharton, he was given a 6 year contract in 2008. I suspect he will be here in 2012. After that who knows.

I doubt he gets restructured. He will make 5.7 million next year which is not excessive for a starting left guard.
