Looking to give up dip.

I've tried cold turkey, seeds, gum and other alternatives. However I never really gave the Non Tobacco natural dips a shot. Does anyone have any experience with these so they can shed some light? Help is appreciated.

Never tried the non-tobacco. I just had to do it cold turkey. I can't tell you how many attempts it took for me to quit before I was actually able to stick it out and get over it. I still have my cravings, but I just find something to do to take my mind away from it.

Chug water. That's what worked for me. Every time I wanted to have a dip, I just filled my water bottle and told myself to keep drinking. Something about that was able to make me forget dip, as I was just worried about getting hydrated at that point. You can give that a shot.

Honestly, finding alternatives for oral fixation is a terrible idea. Then you just become dependent on something else. Sure, other things are better for you, but the dependency, to me, is the worst part about addiction.

I quit on and off for years. Tried the mint replacement products, but they just dried my mouth out. I took my last dip July 14, 2010. Have not looked back. Finding a lump in my jaw scared the sh*t out of me and eliminated any cravings earlier this year. Now I can pound a case of beer around people that are dipping and not crave one. I went and dropped $2000 on a CT Scan of my jaw to make sure the lump wasn't anything and it wasn't, but to the day I am still worried about oral cancer. I only dipped about once a day unless I was drinking. What helped me was looking at my two kids and imagining them without me. Also, any time you have a craving, go to WebMD and search mouth/oral cancer.

Chewing tobacco was my crutch during my weight loss. Whenever a craving hit I would throw in a dip. But you're right.
