Kalil not entering 2012 draft.

I think Jeffrey looks slow because he has such long strides.. I do have to say that his acceleration is lacking because of his long strides... He is not quick at all, but once he gets momentum, the guy looks like he is pretty fast for such a big guy.. just my .02.

This is a pretty solid post. Jeffery is not fast, but that's not his game. However, like Cat's Growl said, people try to play it off like he's some fat, slow loser. When in fact, you watch some of his highlights and you can see that he has run away from defenders before. He has a couple 60+ yard TDs, a 70 + yarder, and an 80 yard TD. I'm sorry. But you can't be slow and do that against ANY college athletes, let alone athletes in the best conference in college football.

Alshon's speed is somewhere in the middle of the two extremes. He's not fast, but he's not slow. Then again, that's not even where he gets most of his separation. Watch his 2010 highlights where he completely abused Dre Kirkpatrick, arguably the most physical CB in college football. There's a couple plays in particular to watch. One is the inside slant where DK tried to jam Alshon and Jeffery just pushed him out of the way and grabbed the ball like it was nothing. The other is the one where DK was draped all over Alshon, even had his jersey and one of his hands. Alshon calmly jumped up and grabbed the ball with his other hand, threw DK off of him, and ran another 20 or so yards down the field. Alshon is a physical monster. Speed is not everything...especially in the redzone where the Panthers struggle to score by passing the ball.

All that being said...I'd love Alshon on this team but I am much more concerned about the OT and FS positions than WR.

I agree that the gurus aren't always spot on but most of the time the guys they ultimately predict to go in the top 10 pretty much go in the top 10 whether you agree with them or not.

Last example I can think of is the Jags taking DT Tyson Alualu with the #10 spot, I don't think anyone had him in the 1st round at all, definitely not in the top half of the 1st.

If Steve Smith is still here I would strongly recommend not getting Desean Jackson. If he tries to pull half the stuff he has in Philly Smitty very well may kill him. At the very least there will be a scuffle on the sideline.

yeah i know but i guess u have to try.

i also saw the video where smith cursed about the ball being overthrown and wanting to get the record....... i dont know if the panthers can have another big wr without it causing tension, even if its a non off the feild issue guy like blackmon. i dont think smith will like sharing the receptions.......maybe im wrong.

If Barkely stays too, USC will be a powerhouse next year and finally have bowl eligibility back.

After the ass fuging by the NCAA the Trojan players have some unfinished business, hopefully Barkley stays as well.

The Panthers should win just enough games moving down in the draft where it makes sense to draft a stud on defense, or if that guy doesn't make sense at our spot, trade down and rape, pillage and plunder some NFL team trying to move up.

Bummer. Rams would have drafted him before us anyways.

This is especially sad because it pretty much, IMO, guarantees Blackmon to the Rams. I don't watch much CFB but I'm not sure if there was an OL on or near Kalil's level, or at least not one worth a top 5 pick.
