Kalil not entering 2012 draft.

It has been all over twitter and here is CBS report from a couple of hours ago. So now what do you want to do with a top 10 pick?? Trade back? WR? Defensive impact player?? Not that we likely would have been high enough to get him anyway.

Kalil, 6-6 and 295 pounds, just finished his second season as the Trojans' starting left tackle. He earned First Team All Pac-12 honors and is currently rated by NFLDraftScout.com as the No. 3 overall prospect in the country. Though his older brother, Ryan, returned for his senior campaign at USC prior to the center being drafted in the second round of the 2007 draft by the Carolina Panthers, most expected Matt to leave early.

A high-ranking NFL scout confirmed that he'd also heard Kalil was "definitely leaning towards returning" and that the decision surprised he and his scouting peers, as well.

We likely wouldn't have been high enough to get him anyways. However, effects us because it make prospect we likely have a chance at (Blackmon, Claiborne) further up draft boards and potentially out of reach.

Crazy stuff happens on draft day. This time last year, who had Blaine Gabbert going in top 10 in the first round? On draft day, who had Jake Locker being second QB taken?

Never know who we is going to fall or who is going to rise.

I think it is time we start accumulating draft picks instead of giving them away. Now that you have a franchise QB you need to start surrounding him with more talent. So unless there is a great defensive playmaker available when we pick, this would be a good year to try and move back and pick up more picks. Now that we have a QB in place we need to be more like the Patriots and less like the.... well Panthers in draft strategy. Just my opinion.
