Ron Meeks and Peppers...

One thing i think people have completley overlooked is the possibility of peppers staying and how he will fit into ron meeks defense

The next name that comes to mind immediately is Dwight Freeny.

I think peppers is a better DE than freeny and about equal in terms of his pass rushing skill.

If peppers stays will he see the best production of his career?

It's like comparing apples and oranges, because Freeney and Peppers do not have a similar playing style.

i dont think meeks DEF will do anything for pepp.its not like this new scheme is too much diff than are old one..maybe we stop droping him back so much but thats about it.

I personally don't mind seeing Pep dropped back some. It might not look as good on the stat line as a sack, but it can be very effective having a guy that is tall, fast, and has ridiculous hops help out on underneath routes from time to time. While I admit I don't have much game film (typically I delete my DirecTV DVR Sunday Ticket recordings after a couple weeks), I'm sure if you watch it you can see QB's have to make some adjustments because Pep dropped back and didn't just rush in. I know he hasn't had a pick in a while, but I'm sure he's helped some other guys get them, and a pick is WAY better than a sack. Just my $.02

Well, it's possible... you didn't see Freeney dropping into coverage much.

If the Panthers really do want to keep Peppers, I would imagine they have already decided they are going to cut him loose on the pass rush and save coverage duties for someone else. I think it's more likely that Meeks would be able to connect with Peppers on a personal level and Peppers would gain a level of comfort and trust with Meeks that might convince him to stay.

I see Meeks being brought in as more of a move to draw in the reigns so to speak. Get the core players to tighten up their play, stay at home so to speak.

I'm sure they'll be tweaks here and there, but it's still Fox's defense.

I think it will let him focus on pass rushing more than he ever has. I also don't think we will see him drop into coverage very much, if at all (hence, more pass rushing opportunities).

The Tampa 2 is predicated upon the DL getting the bulk of the pressure on the QB, so Meeks coaches his DE's to be much more relentless in chasing down the QB than what Trgo did. Trgo was a believer in the read and react defense, and wanted his DL to maintain integrity, whereas Meeks requires his DL to be much more aggressive in pass rush. Of course the downside to that is inconsistency in run defense, but all of our DL (with perhaps the exception of Lewis) are better run defenders than what Meeks had to work with in Indy, so hopefully we'll have a bit more consistency than they were used to.

very true if anything this will have a big diff in are linebackers and S,i think they have a lot of control over the field now if i am not mistaken

I agree....I think you will see the DE's pinning their ears back more under Meeks.
