Chud mentioned as possible HC replacement in Jax

mike shula was a god awful HC with tampa bay. norv or scott turner (who drew up the trick play used this week) seem a lot more likely.

regardless i doubt chud gets a head coaching job with winston moss, bill o'brien, norv turner, jeff fisher, jon gruden, bill cowher, chuck pagano, dave toub, mike mularkey, perry fewell, steve spagnuolo, russ grimm, brian schottenheimer, rob ryan, greg manusky, tony sparano, etc around.

all former coaches, soon to be former coaches, and top coordinators that have been getting buzz for a few years. chud is a tight end guru with two seasons as a great OC that were several seasons apart. i don't see it happening this soon. maybe in a year or two.

I don't think it is as minute as you think. We lost Jack Del Rio after one season and what Chudz has done with our offense he will be the flavor of the month after the season is done.

I hope not, but he definitely will get a good long look.

that was a fluke and people are going to look at that situation and probably shy away from it. i don't think the jags are going to want to bring in the next JDR...a one year coordinator from the panthers. having typed that, i'm even more convinced that him leaving for the jags HC job has very little chance of happening.

if he did leave and we brought in norv, though...we might have an upgrade at OC. not sure that would be a bad thing. there is just as much a chance of norv coming here as OC as chud leaving after the year to take a HC job.

it's just not something to worry about unless you are addicted to worrying.

i think with the quick success of jim harbaugh in san fran that people will be less adverse to hiring a guy up out of the college ranks. it's a copy cat league, after all. that could very well be the next hot trend for a year or two.

What does being a good head coach have to do with being a good coordinator? He have no clue whether Shula can be a good OC or not.

Ever heard of Charlie Weiss? Romeo Crennel? Greg Williams? Wade Phillips? Do I need to keep going or do you get the point?

BTW, I seriously doubt Chud leaves.

I hope that Chud can engrain his system to the point where Cam becomes the OC. Similar to Peyton Manning.. the Colts OC is simply a figurehead.. Peyton is the guy who calls the plays (audibles), etc.. if Chud leaves now, that would hurt the development of Cam unless we bring in Norv, whom has the same system. I don't know if Norv would have an ego issue with switching roles with Rivera.

that was a typo on my part. shula was OC in tampa, not HC. averaged two touchdowns and a field goal per game for four years.

I'd also like to add that there is no way in hell that gabbert can run a vertical passing attack like chud would probably want to implement. Gabbert is just a taller Jimmy clausen.
game tape i saw of gabbert last year reminded me of jimmy last year.

I hope you are right. You make some good points but even if Jacksonville doesn't nab him, doesn't mean St. Louis or Miami won't.
