DTs Terrell McClain and Sione Fua on injured reserve

I've actually seen some growth with McClain, hate to see him go down now.

The good news is they can both start working on adding upper body strength and hand techniques, but news is they need to work on their base.

Maybe we'll sign some more young guys and find a gem, at the rate we're going we're bound to into someone worth a damn.

Ok lets take a chill pill for a second here. Everyone wants to talk about how great the run defense was with these new guys in there. When in reality we got up early which forced them to pass. Furthermore, quite of few of their runs were sweeps which dont affect the tackles and those were blown up by CJ or Hardy causing for big loses which messed up Blounts numbers. While the run d did much better than past weeks, idk how much it had to do with our tackles

not really disagreeing but on one of the plays where CJ blows up the back in the backfield, number 99 held the point so well, blount couldn't stick it up inside.

I saw McClain becoming more of a player in the middle the last few weeks. Sad to see him go down but you're right he and Fua will get a head start on the offseason program they need to bulk up.

i'm not too worried.

we should be running more nickel sets anyways and going with 3 man fronts. i think most of our DEs are big enough to handle DT and they all have form time to time. add that in with neblett and kearse and i think we are fine.

i just don't think it's going to get worse in the middle than it has and it might, in fact, get better.

mcclain and fua were getting the PT they were mainly for experiences sake. they got it and now they can focus on building on their frames and technique.

we might bring in a DT or two to fill out depth, but i doubt if they see significant PT.

^ Agreed

As sad as this is to say, losing both our starting defensive tackles will probably improve the play of this defense.

(I say that tongue in cheek because i've actually seen McClain make a couple nice plays over the last couple games. Fua has been non-existant for the most part.
