Reaction to Cam's comments

With ESPN the magazine. Yes I know there is a thread already on here where the interview was originally posted, but I just got done reading through it and its basically turned into a full fledged debate about offensive inefficiency, defensive inefficiency, the '03 Superbowl, and a $hit ton of ALT's being created for trolling. And to be honest, I feel like I wasted a good 10 minutes of my life reading through it all.

It's obvious fans are going to be on both sides of the fence (reference above mentioned thread), but instead of all that BS, I just wanna know how you guys think Cam's comments will be taken by the coaching staff, FO, and most importantly, his teammates? Thoughts?

I say people should overthink it and try to look at comments through a microscope.

Cam pretty much said Carolina has lost in the past.

Cam isn't going to accept losing.

Cam wants everyone to hate it to the degree he does.

Cam wants to be great in the near future and wants his team to be great.

Not sure how anyone can take issue with what he was saying. Simple and plain.

dude is helping to set the tone. he's not doing it by himself, but he's turning into the biggest voice. i'm sure it's not something that hasn't been said to the rest of the team and im sure he's not alone in it.

only guys who would get pissed are guys who are in it for themselves and aren't giving the team 100%. they also won't likely be around next year.

oh...and ibtpfflaltsandhijack

If you don't know what Cam is talking about when he basically says we have some "losers" on the team that think its okay to just go out and get it the next play than you haven't been watching the games.

As far as the front office stuff, I sure we have PR people signing off on this kinda stuff before its run. So Im sure its no huge shock.

I can't begin to tell you how cautious I was about this pick and as the weeks continue to go by, he's impressing me more and more. I was wondering how he would transition mentality wise as he got used to the league and so far his progress has been nothing short of awesome.

If you watch that interview I don't know how it doesn't just get you pumped. We've found something very very good for our future and I hope it stays course ;)

Well to clarify, I like his comments. I don't want to over analyze them either, just curious if the reaction he'll get out of the players is the one he wants or not? But yeah, I like him trying to light fires under everyone's ass. That should be his job as a franchise QB.

I was very cautious of Cam as well. In fact, I didn't believe in Cam prior to the draft. I felt we made the wrong pick, but I knew I would support whoever we drafted. I felt the same way about Pickles.. I turned out to be right about him, but wrong about Cam. Not complaining. Lol. Without the suckage of Pickles, we would have never gotten Cam. Therefore, I am thankful for Pickles.

cam loves this organization and wants everyone to be as dedicated as he is to winning. He wants to help the Panthers win their first super bowl and several more. I have no doubt Cam will take us to multiple super bowls. I know that is a bold statement, but I KNOW he will.

There fixed it for ya, ha. 1 Superbowl @ a time yes, but I'm hoping for multiple ones :cheers2:

This is a bit of what another poster was getting at in the other related thread that ended up into a flame war, because they shared a differing opinion than most.

Those words sounds great until you take into account every player has different personalities, some of whom may not like the idea of a rookie (regardless of how good or great he may be) coming into the organization and basically saying this is how its going to be.

Agreed, the team needed the fire, but the fire coming from a coach, or even a vet of several years burns a bit differently than the fire of a rookie. Some players may be able to appreciate that kind of fire more than others, but at the end of the day it IS a team game, and as good as the "Cam Show" is for national attention, it may in time show us that it rubs a few other players the wrong way.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
    • I’m hoping SMU messes it all up and wins out. Imagine the SEC & BI0 would crap themselves trying to “fix” the problem.
