Chris Paul Trade Discussion

This is absolutely insane. So Miami can have Lebron and Dwayne Wade, arguably the best two players in basketball, but the Lakers can't trade away an All-Pro player and an All-Star caliber player for Paul?

The NBA is literally fuging itself right now coming off one of the most successful years in recent memory. Between this and the lockout they are really testing my patience.

Man this is a mess. I hate seeing a handful of teams with all the top players. If thats the way its going to be then contract the league to 14-16 teams. No way the small market teams will be competative the way its going. Even if a team gets lucky and gets a true star they will just bolt when their rookie contract is up.

As far as the Paul to LA trade...the league made the rules and NO will end up with nothing in return. Remember if it wasnt for Bob Bass getting quality players for Alonzo, LJ and Eddie Jones the Hornets would have been horrible. He kept the franchise competative when Shin refused to pony up. Ironically Shin started the whole thing with the 12yr 84 million, I think, mega contract to LJ.

The entire league should be done away with. Just let New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and some other team have a round robin tournament every year for the championship. I've tried getting into the NBA again but this whole talent discrepancy thing kills it for me.

the officiating frustrates me more than anything

if they'd just level the playing field like that, the nba would be much more interesting

its all because the league owns the hornets

I really don't give a fug, you can't veto a trade sending a superstar to a big market because it hurts the little guy then allow the NJ/NY market to acquire Dwight from Orlando....that's ridiculous....

I don't know. I mean if NO was still owned by an actual owner, then he would be able to block the trade for whatever reason he wanted, including hurting the little guy. If the league owns the Hornets, they can do whatever they want with them.

Now this whole thing is BS nonetheless, but the fact is the league can do whatever they want with a team they own.

My problem is that the league owns the Hornets so they must have known about the deal/agreed to trade CP3 in the first place. Once a deal had been reached, several small market owners go out and bitch and then Stern axes a deal that he knew all along was being negotiated....sorry, that's just not kosher....

I think the other owners, ala Gilbert in Cleveland, say that it should go to a vote by the other owners of league. I guess since the league is made up of 29 owners then there are 29 owners of the hornets. Also, one could argue that it is a conflict of interest for the league to even own the hornets and they should be sold or contracted. IMO.
