Chris Paul Trade Discussion

Some inside the NBA have a conspiracy theory... Could it be true? IDK

http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/33847714

But rival executives were circulating this conspiracy theory Monday night: Was it a coincidence that the Clippers were able to get Billups for $2 million when they were negotiating a related trade with the league office, which knew the competing bids?

The salacious conspiracy theory was only perpetuated by the conflict of interest inherent in the NBA's handling of the trade for the Hornets, who were taken over by the league in December 2010. Given the backlash against the soap opera that has dominated the reopening of NBA business after the lockout -- and the potential death knell for the New Orleans franchise if Paul were stranded there and forced to leave as a free agent after the season with no compensation -- the pressure was never greater on the league to ensure that Paul was moved to L.A.

The Clippers' trade talks for Chris Paul died again late on Monday, according to a source.

When given permission to speak with Paul, the point guard expressed excitement to the Clippers about playing with Eric Gordon and the potential of having a high first round pick from the Wolves, say sources.

The Clippers are concerned that surrendering both of those assets would compromise their ability to retain Paul in the long-term.

The Hornets and Clippers have held discussions that are built around Chris Kaman, Eric Bledsoe, Al-Farouq Aminu, along with Gordon and the 2012 pick from Minnesota.

Sources say the Clippers are resisting giving up Gordon and that management has promised they won't include him in any deal for Paul. If he is retained, the team is hoping to sign him to a long-term extension.

Further complicating the situation is that many people around the league are skeptical of the NBA's true intentions on whether they actually want to trade Paul. The concern is that the NBA may be trying to protect themselves against legal liability by publicly attempting to trade Paul after they vetoed a deal last week involving the Lakers.

This is why they need to be patient, wait and sign him in 7 months as a FA.

I don't know why the Clippers are still talking with the NBA after yesterday. Read this garbage here >

The Hornets wanted "everybody," one source said. That meant both prized shooting guard Gordon and the highly coveted Minnesota pick, with requests at various points in the day from NBA negotiators Stu Jackson and Joel Litvin for Bledsoe and an additional first-round pick as well

So the NBA asked for Bledsoe, Gordan, Twolves 1st, Additional 1st, Kaman and Aminu. Wtf are they thinking....

Anyways reports are that the teams are still talking for some damn reason and that the trade to Clippers is still on, I expect Billups to be part of the deal along with Kaman, and Aminu.

It'll probably be the twolves draft pick, Bledsoe, Billups, Kaman and Aminu for Paul. Still a hell of a deal for the Hornets because of the draft pick. They get two solid young players, a high value draft pick (most likely a top 3 pick in a heavy class), and 14 million in expiring contracts.

If they can do this and retain Eric Gordon it would be a great deal.

Griffin, Gordon, Paul>anyone else's top 3.
