Great Cam interview with ESPN Magazine

... Dude you make several new alts a week (sometimes a day) to babble the same stuff over & over.

Its the internet equivalent of calling up your ex & yelling "*****! You ruined my life!" & thinking she hung up because she can't handle the truth.

Holy poo, that's hilarious.

As I explained in the post that was deleted, you are actually continuously trolling this team by making statements that are just plain infuriating and false such as those above. No one's trying to bring Cam Newton down, by simply making valid points. No Panthers player on this organization would agree with what you say about them. Only one MIGHT. The rest would probably agree with me and would consider you a troll

1. You are still confused because you listen to people who twist words around. I never said defenses don't matter. I said the difference between one NFL defense and another isn't great. No defense is great enough currently in the NFL to make up for offensive inefficiency.

2. No defense is bad enough to keep an efficient offense from winning.

3. Do your homework and STOP REGURGITATING CLICHES. There have been countless Super Bowl blowouts and total defensive meltdowns. Including the one we played in. The #1 defense in 2003, the Patriots, help set a record number for the number of allowed points allowed to the Carolina Panthers in the 4th quarter. Yeah our 03 offense set a record against the "#1 defense" for how bad of a meltdown they had in the 4th quarter. Also in the last 6 minutes for both defenses before the half.

And we were hardly the biggest scoring Super Bowl in the history of the NFL. There have been A TON!

4. You still do not understand that offensive efficiency ultimately dictates how HIGH your defense ranks. So does offensive style. Running vs passing teams and time of possession. Those two aspects of football have the biggest impact on yards allowed rankings. Offensive efficiency has the biggest impact on points allowed.

My god... its like watching people jump from a burning building.

Its horrifying and terrible, yet you can't tear your eyes away from it.

True I barely even wanted to touch that topic b/c I'm not on the sidelines with them. I just highly doubt players like Steve, Olsen and others just accept it now. I do understand where he's coming from though.

no, but there are tons of players in the NFL that show up to collect paychecks. That is reality. Not everyone in the NFL takes winning as seriously as others.

When Cam said he wanted out of the house, he meant the house of losing... not the Panthers house, he was very careful to clarify that (but it won't matter to some). His point was that a Lion will not be broken into a house pet and he won't be broken into accepting losing.

When he talked about wanting to throw for 280 if Dalton throws for 270, he was simply giving an example of how the success of other QB's motivates him to step his own game up.

Thought it was a good interview.

Cam is driven to be the best.. and part of his motivation comes from other QBs. If that were his single driving factor, then I'd say that his goals are off target.. but I don't think that is his ultimate goal (at least I hope not). He does talk about wanting to be an icon and being the next Aaron Rodgers, etc.. but I hope that his ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl.

He's not talking about the franchise. He's talking about the players. And my guess is some of the players have come to accept losing as just a part of it. The Panthers will continue to be a losing franchise until they get more players and coaches with his attitude.
i think the coaches have his attitude. i don't hear any of the complacency that existed during fox's tenure. of course the only coach you heard from when fox was around was fox himself. rivera has been letting other coaches talk to the press and i just don't get the notion that they aren't hungry. they are doing what it takes to make the team better now and in the long run and they are allowed to be creative in finding a way to do both.

also, the fact that they are making the roster changes with the frequency they are shows a bit of aggressiveness in trying to get the right guys out there now instead of waiting until next year.

the message has been consistently if you are hungry, you're going to get your shot. if you aren't hungry, we'll find someone who is, even if it's a rookie udfa.

i fully believe that the team is starting to catch on to that hunger as well. there are a few guys that have had that hunger all along, but haven't had the voice, presence, or contagious personality to cause it to spread. i'm sure there are followers who were just waiting for someone to come along and fire them up and i don't doubt that they are getting that from cam on offense. beason and davis (if davis comes back) will bring it on defense.

weaker/complacent links are also starting to get replaced by those who are more hungry so in that way the team is becoming more of a hungry one.

let them finish the year on a positive note letting them see the potential that is there and you will see a much hungrier group of guys that are more focused and determined to dominate next year.

a lot of that is going to be due to cam, btw. that was one of the biggest reasons he was drafted. anyone watching him from blinn to auburn could tell how infectious this guy was and how he was able to get everyone on the same page and fired up. the dude is an incredible motivator. this year the focus has been on learning for him. next year he'll have the offense down and can focus more on getting the team hyped.

he wanted to earn his spot as a leader on this team rather than assume it right out of the gate so i'm thinking he's intentionally taken a back seat in some things which is good because it's helped him to focus more on learning. he's earned his spot as a leader the same way beason did, though.

i just can't wait to see a full season with those two guys running things on their side of the ball.

LOL, if Cam was White then this guy would be his biggest fan! Yep, I said it! I can call one of my own out cause I'm white! Sound like every other racist anti-cammer that is a friend of mine. You will eventually realize you reasons to "hate" on him is actually a complement!

Its rare for someone to be so honest. It is a bit refreshing. I liked the majority of what he said with the exception of the "Get on my level" comment....like he's accomplished something truly meaningful. Sure he's broken records but its a team game.

lol. Go to college. Get better friends. What does that make Smith then cause he ranked Cam 3rd behind two white quarterbacks? Self-hate? And what about me saying much worse things about Clausen? Self-hate too? Soon as someone says anything that criticizes Newton, "racist" or "hater". Or maybe your friends might just know football better than you and don't rely on the media to teach them.
