Are we as good as we think we are?

Has there ever been a former Panthers player that some of you obsess over more than Moore? It's insane. Big deal, he was a Panther. Why do you all continue to ride his nuts? We've all but forgotten about Jake, Pep, Harris, etc. This has nothing to do with TRD, as his reasons for leghumping Moore are due to an imbalance in his brain. But the rest of you? Please, do tell why you care so much about the guy.

My second favorite team is the Dolphins and I like Moore, so I enjoy seeing him play well.

The vast majority of people who bring him up here don't give a poo about him, they do it because they think it makes them cool since they can use him to insult TRD or something.

They can make the playoffs and if having two half time leads in the first two games is folding under the pressure, I don't want to know your opinion of Cam Newton.

You do realize the panthers can still make the playoffs as well? No of course you dont because all you want to do is hate. Cam does struggle on occassion? Absolutely HE'S A ROOKIE THAT WAS IN JUCO TWO YEARS AGO!!!!!!!! Hate all you want, but stop claiming to be a fan you probably cringe with bitterness every time Cam makes a play. Ive got news for you, hes not going anywhere. You however are free to leave

he was directly responding to a post about the Dolphins, he said absolutely nothing about us making the playoffs or Cam. The point is that L-TownCat was wrong about Miami and about Moore...

It was decided in 2010 that we would not be winning. Now you see how other teams like Miami or Denver and Fox aren't willing to sacrifice the potential for winning now to "build for the future". It wasn't Fox. There's no such thing. There's no guarantee to building through the draft. It's just cheaper. But building to win doesn't come from drafting it comes from good coaching and a good winning philosophy at all times. You win NOW and you win EVERY SUNDAY of every season. That's what build you into a winner. Practicing winning religiously. Not putting it off.

Let me get this straight, you are offering up Miami and Denver as franchises that are winning now and practice winning religiously (apologies to The Golden Calf of Bristol)? Miami is 4-8 coming off back to back 7-9 seasons that followed 11-5 (2008) that followed 1-15 (2007).....Denver is doing pretty well at 7-5, but have work to do. They are coming off 4-12 following 7-9 (2007), 8-8 (2008) and 8-8 (2009). These are the franchises you are making comparisons with and using as examples?

I am a bit confused how Denver and Miami are good examples of not "sacrificing the potential for winning now to build for the future."

Miami refused to trade future draft picks for Kyle Orton, someone they were convinced would help them win now... instead deciding to build for the future.

Denver, though, is totally opposite of that statement considering they basically decided to try to gut the offense this year so they could draft Luck. Amusingly their plan failed when, despite having nearly no receiving threats, The Golden Calf of Bristol turned out to be capable of winning games for them...

We have yet to beat a team with it's starting QB in the lineup.

I think this team has a ton of potential but that is scary. Can we improve enough in one offseason to finally beat a team with a decent starting QB? Can we improve even more to make the playoff run which everyone is expecting?

These last 4 weeks are going to be very important to gauge truly how much potential we have as a team for next year.

Who is WE???

I would argue that Denver taking The Golden Calf of Bristol was most certainly the case of picking a hyped player.

I am curious what makes you consider Denver trading Lloyd away as being sticking with a proven prospect instead of taking a risk on the unknown.

Denver just seems like an extremely poor example of a club interested in winning now. Just because Fox has them winning now doesn't mean that his front office really equipped him to do so, heh.

Smart Panthers fans who care more about winning and know what it takes to get there. Who don't sacrifice winning philosophies for loyalty, hype, political reasons or player bias.

I was more talking about the OP who is using "WE" when he has never been a "WE".

But thanks for all the stuff you just type out.

even *if* TRD hates Cam, it's not a requirement to be a fan that you like Cam Newton, though it seems silly to be a fan of a team and hate their quarterback, I know such people exist even in some of the franchises with 'elite' QBs. Personally I do not think he has any problems with Cam, he just likes to fug with you guys... but mebbe I'm wrong.

Mav no matter what you say TRD will never be a fan of this team. He never was a fan of this team. He was and always will be a Fan of Matt Moore. He is no different from ATL Vick fans.

Ahh okay, I misunderstood.

As to the sucking for Luck thing, I do think that after the first few losses they started to gear for the potential run at #1. But winning is obviously more important than Luck. so when The Golden Calf of Bristol did what they thought improbable they ran with it, no point in sabotaging him (despite the fact Elway and fox both talked poo about him for the first couple weeks and seemed interested in potentially benching him after Detroit). Still, they traded away Lloyd because they wanted to build for the future. Definitely trading away a weapon like that is setting you up more for the future because you think this particular season is lost. But oh well - turned out okay for them, at least so far.

However, I don't know what that has to do with the Panthers... You assume this season was designed to suck, but it wasn't. Nobody expected our defense to be this bad. Rivera thought we could get 10 wins, but we lost some critical players. They planned to lean on Cam early, hoping to rely on a decent D if he struggled. Well, he didn't exactly struggle, but our D also wasn't decent, so here we are.

Last year was a retarded year where JR basically didn't want to fire Fox but also wanted him to play his young players so he forced Hurney to cut everyone else. He was preparing for the lockout and wanted to move on from Fox. Even then, he didn't expect the team to be so bad.

Ultimately I think the last two seasons have been our front office greatly overvaluing our talent at some important positions.
