no one is pretending there is not. however, with all of the free agents you listed, the negatives outweigh the potential gains, they are not cost effective, they're old and got overpaid, or they just don't make any sense here at all. This isn't madden. schemes matter. players matter. size matters.

yeah, it's cool when your team signs someone and you get to go nuts talking about how he's the missing piece and that you're super bowl bound (see Dimbee or SaintJ) but it's irritating when low information fans throw a hissy fit about not doing anything. the organization can't do anything until they trade away peppers, and that will most likely not happen until the day of the draft.

speaking of which, there is the draft, then free agency after the draft, then another whole round of cuts for the panthers to pick and choose from.

Don't ever become GMs then. You realize that players that fit all of the requirements that people like Fiz have generally don't exist right?

Sometimes it's good to take gambles on players. Stephen Davis was a washed-up has-been when we signed him. Kemo was thought to not fit in a 4-3 that well when we signed him and he's finally developed into being at least good. Moose was another old player last year when we signed him. Keydrick Vincent was almost on his way out of the league. I guess you didn't want us to sign those players too? OH WAIT, I actually remember people being very excited when we signed those players. Why? Because people blindly support whatever Fox/Hurney does. If they sign players with question marks like the ones I mentioned, they're geniuses. If they don't sign similar players in 2009, they're geniuses. They can do no wrong.

What pisses me off is that they aren't going after anyone at all, no matter how "washed up" they may be. I haven't been a Fox/Hurney fan for some time. I don't like the way they run things. They are being, as AK Panther said, reactive. Being pro-active, even if means signing career back-ups is better than what they are doing now. Which is nothing. Proactive people get ahead in life, and proactive teams win Super Bowls. proactive is the way to be.

Last year we stay relatively healthy. We had a couple of injures on the O-Line, but we had quality backups to fill in. The thing that scares me this year is we have no depth behind each O line and D line. I think it is unlikely for the Panthers to stay healthy for consecutive seasons. I have faith that the front office will draft well and fill those spots, like they have been for the past 6 years.

My only concern is with injuries, but that is nothing you can control. It’s okay having high hopes coming into this year. We return all starters besides Lucas.

if we were anywhere close to the season starting...i would be worried.

the responsible thing to do right now, considering the situation as it is, is to wait and see what happens on draft day. when we have gone through that the we will see what needs we still have.

there will be a lot of turnover taking place between draft day and TC. what few needs we have depth wise or whatever will be addressed. i have seen nothing that would prevent me from believing that would be the case.

no one can predict injuries but aside from a couple areas we have decent enough to get us through a few.

now if you pull up 2004...there aren't many teams that happens to and i don't think there are any teams who would be able to recover from a year like that.

it also isn't a matter of being reactive or proactive. it's being pragmatic. we don't have many issues that need to be or have to be addressed right now. we can wait to see what happens in the draft. we can afford to see what happens in the FA market after the draft. considering our situation, that's about as much as you could ask for. if there was a really desperate need that had to be met RIGHT NOW then we would have found the money. as it is, there are no needs that have to be addressed right now. as long as they are before TC, i'm happy.

The off season isn't over yet. The Panthers could still pull out a huge trade and have an excellent draft and pick up some notable key FA's after the draft. Always have faith.

Exactly, the list of current picked over free agents being held up as an end all for Panther moves is stupid. I'm more interested in potential post Peppers (if it comes to that) moves and players we can plug in who will become free agents as teams make cuts that can be inserted in positions where depth is needed like OL, DL and cornerback.

Draft and sign our new players, then insert free agent talent where available/needed.
