Who was it that you wanted? Several others have this same thing. Haynesworth? Cutler? Grady Jackson? Who?

I dont know, but considering we had to cut a backup player to just pay our starters their bonuses from last season it doesnt matter.

I wouldnt mind taylor, bring him in, see how he works and if he doesnt cut it, than cut his ass.

I JUST WANT to see our DL get the help it needs for us to stay competitive.

I am not one to worry terribly about signing FA"s, what I do worry about is our D line next season.

We were getting beat....bad on D last year, and now our best D line player could very well hold out, while taking up much needed $$$$ to help fill a hole or two on the line.

Very nervous about that.

Also- some folks think this is about "just getting someone signed", its not.

Its about being proactive Vs. Reactive. The Panthers have a history of being re-active which is BAD for any club.

Also, 2004 is a great example, I admit I was one of the folks who was blinded by the last season's success that I didnt mind us being quiet in the offseason.

Then when the season came and our guys started dropping like flies with no quality depth, I realized we were screwed.

I would rather be over prepared than not be ready.

So thats the case- with the success of last season (minus our HORRIBLE defense) do we face the same fate if we cannot find some quality depth and ensure we have the talent we need.

if we had the average amount of cap space (about $21mil)...what positions would you have changed with the available FAs?

only reasonable thing i could see us doing was snag a couple of the DEs that the giants took.

we probably wouldn't have cut lucas.

our OL that took off? they would have gone anyway. they had a chance to start. they weren't going to do that here. why would they stay? not sure there have been any OL that would have come in when we could get just as good a quality backups in the draft that actually have a chance to make us better down the road. we develop good OL now.

QB...i don't think we would have made any changes. they are happy there for the moment.

WR...not enough of a need at all.

DT....no way should we have been involved in the haynesworth sweepstakes. he isn't worth that amount and most in here would have been pissed if we had done that. everyone would be pissed with the decision in 2 years. other than him...not a great market.

we are coming off a season where we have a very solid team. we have only a couple holes. except for DE, this just wasn't a good year to go out and find fillers for those holes.

So the only players most of you geniuses would like to sign are young players with perfect attitudes with huge upsides at positions we're sorely lacking at that we can get extremely cheap? LOL

Don't ever become GMs then. You realize that players that fit all of the requirements that people like Fiz have generally don't exist right?

Sometimes it's good to take gambles on players. Stephen Davis was a washed-up has-been when we signed him. Kemo was thought to not fit in a 4-3 that well when we signed him and he's finally developed into being at least good. Moose was another old player last year when we signed him. Keydrick Vincent was almost on his way out of the league. I guess you didn't want us to sign those players too? OH WAIT, I actually remember people being very excited when we signed those players. Why? Because people blindly support whatever Fox/Hurney does. If they sign players with question marks like the ones I mentioned, they're geniuses. If they don't sign similar players in 2009, they're geniuses. They can do no wrong.

proactive- not reactive

I will remain biased.

I expect us to make a big splash POST draft, if not I will be VERY dissapointed.

just because we sign players doesnt mean they wont get cut after TC if they dont work out.

Its about having options. And right now we dont have very many options.

I believe some of the best talent can come from post draft cuts, so I will remain optimistic.

The only DT prospect I was wanting us to bring in through FA is still out there and that is Robertson. Second in sacks since being drafted and he's always had the knee problems, so nothing new there. Otherwise Build through the draft. We have two young Oline players One that can play G/T the other is just a Guard. Get a backup Center in the Draft and another G/T prospect and were set for depth there pretty much. Draft a couple of Dline players and sign Robertson and were pretty much set there. The rest of the team is in good shape with out any glaring needs cept for Corner and I think the team likes Marshall as a starter and Wilson as the nick.
