Great Whites migrate around the world and we still know very little about their migration paths. There today, gone tomorrow. Resident Whites are very uncommon. We see one a few times a year here in San Diego, but more in recent years. Someone got attacked a few years ago. Changing ocean currents due to ice melt are creating new migratory paths.

No need to worry though, unless you're a surfer your chances of getting attacked aren't great.
