i think the encouraging thing is that cam has displayed the desire to want, more than anything, to be number one on that list. it shows up in practice and in games, and it's showed up his entire life (espn mentioned the other day that as a kid in pop warner football cam would show up to practice early to throw footballs with the quarterback team, even though that wasn't his position.)

smitty respects the hell out of that and it's why they've been on page all season long, and its why smitty will be productive for another four years.

Yeah, TPTB at ESPN seem to enjoy speaking out of both sides of their mouths. Weren't they one of the many who were questioning Cam's work ethics, ala Jamarcus Russell, during the draft?

I still believe these folks knew the truth about Cam but also knew the mindset of their followers. It was clearly easier to paint Cam as one of the stereotypical lazy, selfish QBs who have passed through the NFL than who he really was.

That's my point..So what he ranked him third. ESPN picked up the story and insinuated some kind of diss by Smitty. That is why I stated that.

I personally see it as an honor considering Cam has only been playing with Smitty for 11 games. I'm sure Smitty has gone through a few QBs since he became a Panther.

Looks like Smitty was definitely on point with this. Even as much as we hated Jake for his 4 int habits late in his career here, he never blew a game like this. Hopefully Cam will learn from these rookie mistakes, and also not do another public interview until he wins the superbowl.

It was more giving props to veterans he has played with than a diss toward Cam but it can be interpreted anyway you like

All the more reason I'm happy wearing a Panthers' Testaverde jersey to the games. Granted, the uninformed bandwagon panther fans have no idea that Vinnie played for us... but I don't care about them.
