Steve Smith ranks Cam the third best quarterback he's played with

Vinny T may be the most important Panther of all time.

Vinny T is up there with Del Rio...in regards to there greatness in Carolina. They have become old folk stories that get better and better and better. Both get way too much credit.

When I read it, I understood what Smitty was saying, but one line kind of stood out to me that gave me pause for thought....

Cam, he's been in the league for about 15 minutes," Smith said on this week's "Dave Dameshek Football Program," which airs on NFL.com . "I think that's one of the things that the media does. They jump on a train too quick."

It made we wonder if he was as bought in as I thought he was

you're reading too much into that.

Jake deserves the respect... Who knows if Smitty ever gets where he was without Jake. He never was as legendary with other QBs under center...

Yeah, this is part of the reason I think Steve stuck behind Jake to the bitter end, because Jake basically started Steve's career as a dominant WR.

I'd agree.

He's got a point - Cam is only 12 games in, it's not fair to say yet that he's accomplished the things that Jake did with this franchise (and what Vinny accomplished outside of Charlotte).

Yep.

i think the encouraging thing is that cam has displayed the desire to want, more than anything, to be number one on that list. it shows up in practice and in games, and it's showed up his entire life (espn mentioned the other day that as a kid in pop warner football cam would show up to practice early to throw footballs with the quarterback team, even though that wasn't his position.)

smitty respects the hell out of that and it's why they've been on page all season long, and its why smitty will be productive for another four years.

god im excited.
