I thought they both sucked. Dirty beaches. I drove around both in between sales visits over the years. The oil rigs look nice at sunset though.

...compared to what?? a canadian beach yes, hilton head no. But it just depends of if your want the touristy vibe or the seclusion vibe.

Personally id head a bit north an go to port aransas

Further south is south padre island which is probably the only Texas beach id go back to

was thinking Port Aransas too...just wanna kick back and lay low for a couple of days of R&R...thinking this time of year, it's gonna be pretty quiet there. Don't plan on swimming, so the beach is just for the relaxing/viewing

They don't really have beaches. Like mentioned above, you won't find a beach until you get to South Padre.

I mean, I've never been, but from what I understand, Galveston is a sh*t town and Chorpus Christi is full of Mexicans. Nothing wrong with that, though.

If you go that close to the border just watch out for stray bullets from the Mexican side. If one kills you, the US cannot prosecute and the mexican has committed no crime in his viva la mexico.

Id shoot for La or Al coast but have fun!!!

If you go South of CC a little bit, you get to the Padre Island national park. There are beaches there, and you can actually drive right on them. I don't know if they will be open right now, though. You can get some wave action there. No saltwater smell, though.
