It's easy to misinterpret that, because the question almost sounded like a "Would you want them to start Jake and give him a shot to get them to the Superbowl?" and he gave a "No" response, basically. After listening to it a second time I think it was more "Since I'm a competitor I hope they don't start him against us because I think he gives them a chance."(or maybe "he's my friend and I'm a competitor so I don't want to play against him", dunno.)

Literally word for word, that's what he said, but the implication was that it was a "I don't want to play him" kinda thing and not a "man he blows lolzlzlz" kinda thing.
