The NFL has no business promoting fitness

 30 grossly obese players on every team?

Most Olinemen are in pretty good shape. Many D Tackles are in pretty good shape. Most D Ends are beast mode. If you have a run stopping NT or DT then they might be overweight but you are so far off it's ridiculous.

You make it seem that more than half the roster is morbidly obese, which is false. Maybe 3-4 guys per roster are obese but I bet they are healthier than the average person.

We'd have to leave it to the doctors to say. Yes, these men are incredibly strong, but at what cost to their own physical health? Obviously someone like Julius Peppers is in great shape, but I see obesity in the trenches every weekend.

I just don't think the NFL should have much say in the matter of health because they basically encourage obesity, the sport in itself is detrimental to many players health and they as an organization do a poor job (tmk) of providing health benefits and care for their formal employees.

As another user said, I'm sure it's mostly for their image, but to me they come off looking full of it.

Anyone else get annoyed when they see NFL stay fit advertisements? Probably 20-30 players on every team have to be grossly obese just to play their position. If they slimmed down to a reasonable size, they'd be out of a job.

Also, afaik, the NFL provides very poor health care for former players who no doubt develop health issues from the physical nature of the NFL and the poor shape they were in when they did play.
