Best run stuffing DT in this draft?

I'm really hoping we use our first or second on a stud run stuffing DT in the draft, but I'm not necessarily a draftnik, just a fan who's tired of seeing the Kevin smiths and Donald browns of the league running over us thinking they're AP or walter payton... Which brings me to my question for all of you, who would be the best option for a DT in this upcoming draft that could significantly improve our run defense? I personally like devon still or dontari poe, but like I said, I'm no draftnik, so I'd like to hear from all of you.

Devon Still is the Best DT in this draft and I heard from a friend that the Panthers are extremely high on him. Listen carefully, I didn't say the Panthers were going to take him but they are high on him.

Here is his stats from this season so far.

I love Dontari Poe's size and strength. He is 6'5" 350lbs and is the strongest man in the NCAA.. he won some competition. I honestly have not seen any tape of him.. but from what I have seen, Josh Chapman of bama' is the best run defender in the draft and could be had in the 3rd round (if we had one).. however, he is kind of a one trick pony, and his pass rush leaves much to be desired.

Poe

Brandon Thompson

Devon Still

Im beginning to think one of these guys will be around in the second round when will pick. Remember a lot of defensive linemen went high in the draft last year so a lot of other teams needs might switch somewhere else for the beginning of this draft.

I also think the 2nd best OLB in the draft will be there in the 2nd round for us.. a 2nd round DT rookie would probably not be an upgrade over a second year 3rd round DT.. so if we don't take a DT in the 1st round, then I doubt we take one, period.

Thats true but if we could come out in a situation where we could get couples and then almost gurarnatee getting Thompson, Poe or Still in the second round hell i would be all for that too. That would be a very talented defensive line and if there is a chance you can have one of the best dominant lines in the league you jump on that. Having a dominant defensive line can make your whole defense look better than what it is. Just sayin that would be a nice scenario to be in but only if there is a good chance we could get one of those guys in second round too.

If we have a 1st round grade on a DT, and he is sitting there in the 2nd round.. then yea, I think you gotta take him. If he has a 2nd round grade, then I think we need to pass on him.

There's no way in hell Ron Edwards being healthy solidifies the position. You have 2 rookies at a position that typically takes over a season to develop into...who have shown virtually no improvement. If we can upgrade, see if you can upgrade and snag someone in the draft. The game is won in the trenches and we get NO push. We rely on speed and flashy moves at the ends.

We keep the rookies, maybe Fua is demoted...Ron Comes back...yeah I think we can upgrade over a freakin Neblett. This position is too important to bet on two rookies who have shown next to nothing.

You could argue Thompson's biggest strengths are against the run. Look at how Clemson stopped VT earlier this year. I think he could be very good.

I'm all for a trade down this season more than ever to rack up as much defensive talent as you can.
