IMO, a top 10 pick cannot be considered a steal... top 10 picks are expected to be elite players.

with age issues with Runningbacks its a much harder decision now that I think about it

Not taking anything away from Peterson, but HB's wear down much faster then WR's do - just as you alluded to.

I also think you have to throw out the # 1 pick that was taken in the draft since the Raiders had the pick, LOL (R.I.P AL)

I would agree that a #5 or #7 pick can be the steal of a draft class if everyone else picked in front of them turns out to be a bust or simply an average player, but I don't see that happening with Peterson so far... and it's likely that at some point he'll be moved to safety.

Right now I'd have to say Dalton is the steal of this draft class.

Will you still feel the same way when Megatron is completing a HOF career 10 years from now while AP has been long since retired?

Consider this, LaDanian Tomlinson is the only HB still in the league from the 1st round of the 2001 draft (and he's a different kind of runner then AP is) and he's winding down while Steve Smith is on the verge of having a career year.
